Killing Routers: Beneficial?

So I looked around a bit and didn't find any thread about this (sorry if there is one).

So what are the pros and cons of killing routing groups of enemies (on strategic map) and does anything happen if the routers reach a castle/town? To clarify even more: after the battle when you are looking at the map and see a party of routers heading towards a settlement.

When routers reach their destination, they simply disappear. I've never been able to kill the few that blundered into my party, they just surrender.

I always assumed they either got captured in the town they retreated to or escaped into the countryside. Or maybe they became prisoners in that town.

Hard to catch, they are. Only done it on a couple of occasions. More often than not they said "We cannot fight anymore, we surrender." Once, though, with Sea Raiders, they said "Damn you, we'll fight to the end!"

Was a pretty short lived battle.

I think it depends on how big your party is when you catch up to them. If its a fairly decent size they'll give up, if its only you and your companions they tend to fight.

I found routers of the same faction would buff the garrison of the city they reached? Ie; If I were to kill Sanjar Kahn and half his men routed to Ichamur, Ichamur would get an increase to the garrison? Maybe it was the mod I was using though.

So basically its just a useless waste of time and men. Fine with me.
I would say killing them yes.  But I like to catch up to them to take them prisoner so I can sell them.
