Two questions:
Is the kidnapped girl that we rescue always the same girl?
Why does she go up a level?

Today, I paid the ransom, she joined the party, and we set off for "home". Along the way, we had a quick battle and spend a night in a tavern. Suddenly, I'm informed that the rescued girl has increased to level 3. :???:

Two quests later, similar situation. I'm informed that the rescued girl has increased to level 4. (edit to add: She's now up to level 5.)

So, is it the same girl, increasing in level as the game progresses? Why does she increase like a NPC but without the options to "talk" like Marnid or Borcha?

I somehow have the feeling that her father will not appreciate us bringing her home with more "experience"

Hah! I never thought of it like that lol.
Ive had her level after she knocked a knight out  I was going to keep her until I saw you coulnt use it to upgrade her!

hihi. the point about angry father was cool. will I have to pay her 11$ to get her abowe level 6, for more entertainment?

(JOKE, should laugh after name "spoon")

I wish you could equip her. That would be so badass this little girl beating the snot out of bandits and such.

OK, I'm getting convinced it's the same girl each time. I've got her up to level 6. We can't actually raise her level in the party screen, but she gains her share of party experience points. I've taken her along on a few "troublesome bandit" quests, and we've managed to acquire convoy and delivery quests with her in the party as well.

Wicked, this is a merchant quest. The merchant tells you that the daughter of a friend has been kidnapped. You bring ranson money to the bandits, who are waiting near a particular town. (You can choose to keep the money and attack the bandits instead.) The girl then joins your party, and you bring her back to the original town. It's important to then visit the merchant again, to collect your reward and your experience points.

Ah, thanks, I have done *maybe* a total of 3 merchant quests so far, and they were all 'escort caravan A from city B to city C", didn't know there were others...

I think there are four total:
* caravan escort
* kidnapped girl
* delivery (You carry merchandise from city B to city C.)
* troublesome bandits (You are asked to eradicate a group of troublesome bandits. If you accept, you'll soon see a group labeled "troublesome bandits". Chase them down, wipe them out, and return to the merchant to get your points.)

Cool, time to get crackin' with the missions again I guess, my first character (a Squire) is now THE Grandmaster-Knight of the Swadian Army, making a crappy 500 a week...miserly bastards...so I'm looking for something a tad different, it took dozens of missions to get that high, which while lucrative (my last one yielded about $600,000), was boring as hell, don't see the point of doing anymore for them now that I've reached the highest rank, ungrateful bastards can shift for themselves, I've done my part for the war effort...

Damsels in Distress on the other hand...I HAVE been out in the field for awhile...Sir Gabriel could probably use a little R&R with a grateful merchant's daughter...or two...or three...

As mentioned, I got her up to level 6 so far. The exact nature of her newfound wisdom hasn't been made explicit, but some of it involved taverns.

Can she be killed?

I saw her run past me weilding a butter knife against some black hunter knights. I buried an arrow in her head to knock her out.

Could the enemy troops actually kill her, or is she an immortal NPC?

She's an immortal "Heroine". I have her at level 8, after taking her on a tour of Calradia. I've seen her kill a bandit and a Swadian crossbowman. She's quite aggressive. Too bad you can't give her a better weapon.

It'd be so cool if you could get the girl permenantly. Here's an idea - Each time you do the quest, there's an 8% chance that instead of the girl going into the city, she will say something along the lines of;-

GIRL:
"I... I don't want to go home, I'm scared of the bandits, I don't like feeling so helpless. Brave [sir/mistress], could you teach me how to fight, how to stand up for myself? My family will not mind, as long as I have one such as you to protect me."

RESPONSE:

"If that's what you want."
"No, I'm sorry but it's best that you stay with your family."

After that, no more quests to save that damned girl. Good idea?

If she wasn't an immortal NPC, you shooting her in the head with an arrow would have killed her! LOL (Unless your Surgery skill was good)

I've accidentally shot one of my own archers in the back of the head when I'm playing as an archer, myself, as they've walked into my line of sight JUST as I've released my arrow  and that killed them!

I think you were lucky she is immortal!

that would be cool, or make the girl fall far your character or one of the npc's in your party.

someone who is good with words should mention it in the sugestion forum

Or we could hold her for more ransom
and fight off the party the merchant sends after her

So, can I get the other types of merchant mission (including the rescue) on v0.623? (I can't download the updated version )
