Kickstarter

The Kickstarter isn't up yet, but we should soon see a Kickstarter project for a new Jagged Alliance title. Let's hope the people making this one actually understand what made the original games great.

In the meanwhile, read the RPS interview to see if you like the sound of what they have in mind: www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/04/17/squad-chat-jagged-alliance-flashback-interview/

The Jagged Alliance Kickstarter is now up. Take a look: www.kickstarter.com/projects/2079547763/jagged-alliance-flashback

Interesting how they didn't mention what were the eight other titles they've previously worked on. But instead mentioned a list of AAA titles that some of their highly skilled professionals have worked on. Including Crysis and SW the Old Republic.

They're probably going to net at least two or three times that money.
If you promise to make an isometric tactical squad based rpg game with turn based combat you can get hell of a lot of money in Kickstarter.
Especially if it carries the name of something that was released over a decade ago.

Yeah, this is certainly not one of those that make start throwing money at the screen straight off - although I'd like it to be.

There's just so much unfulfilled demand for a really good Jagged Alliance game, or something else that's close enough, that there are tons and tons of people wishing very hard that these guys know what made the old games as good as they were, and add to the mix the huge disappointment that the previous attempt to revive the series was...

I'll probably end up investing that 25$ in any case, but I'll consider it the biggest risk I've taken with Kickstarter so far. I still need to take a good look at the project - was on my phone earlier when I posted that link and only got home a while ago so I haven't had a chance to really take a look at things. One thing I did notice however was that there was no mention whatsoever of destructible terrain or buildings. That's a pretty strong hint towards there being none, but I really wish they take a good look at Silent Storm and learn a few lessons from it..

7.62mm was a pretty good squad based game like jagged alliance, possibly even better then the latest one or at least I thought so.

I've spent way to much on kickstarters this year alone

To bad this one doesn't have an early bird one, that is where I waste most of my money.

Well, I asked about destructible environment on their facebook page and got a reply pretty quick. Apparently the team has played Silent Storm and environmental destruction is planned to be a stretch goal. Not an ideal situation, but at least gives me some hope.

That doesnt say anything really. They can just make it a 4million stretch goal, if they dont want to make it and still say, well not our fault. One of the less convincing kickstarters this.

Yes, obviously. And that it's not a part of the original plan makes you wonder if it even can be properly implemented or if there's will to do it right.

Well, they kind of can't hire people if they don't make enough money, or at least that is my interpretation on the matter.

I'm kinda skeptical. All of the attempts to resuscitate the JA franchise after JA2 have bombed, I don't see anything to indicate this one's going to be any different.

Definitely going to have to toss some money their way. Shame their other games are either mobile or steam exclusive though, would very much like to give their other stuff a go.

Double Fine are back at it with "Massive Chalice". It hasn't been up all that long and in the space of watching the video and reading the page I saw the backing amount jump by 10k.

I would definitely buy something like this, there aren't enough tactical RPGs on the market in my opinion, and it's a cool concept.

I saw that he had one backed project which was some voxel game that felt a lot like timber and stone :

Actually by first impressions seems better simply because it is moddable (which I don't believe TnS is). Going to back this probably since can still get same kickstarter prices on their website until June 13th and I should have some money in my paypal then, TnS in its current stage was just very frustrating and without the ability to mod makes it a little moreso since the dev seems like a douche sometimes.
