[size=26pt]Karthadastim Republic

In the history of the world, there are few nations more known and more revered than the Maritime Republic of Karthadastim, which is known by it's more common name Carthage. The Punic Peoples dominated the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea, and many of the Islands within. Wealth, Power, and Naval might were common characteristics of the Powerful City state. It would be no overstatement to say that Karthadastim could have been the world power that Rome became. Despite their defeat, it can be said that what defeated them was not the Romans or their militant Might, which prove time and time again to be poorly led and inferior to that of the Karthargo.

Karthargo was defeated by Honor. When Hannibal invaded and defeated the Romans time and time again in Italy, he had numerous chances and opportunities to strike at the great cities of his enemy. Great Roman cities, and Rome itself. Yet he lacked the supplies to attack them himself, and the only his allies could have possibly supplied the food needed, as Rome had burned its fields. Unwilling to ask for such a commitment from his allies, Hannibal failed to do the structural damage needed to make Rome Kneel, and was eventually forced back to Africa. Where traitors brought his military might down enough for Scipio Africanus to land a killing blow.

The Clan
The  is a group founded by several of the older members of the Roma Oritur community. Many of us, including myself, have been here since day one. Although we didn't play on day one, due to the scripting errors. That aside, we sport a core of active players who enjoy this mod and the history behind it. Beyond that, we also sport that which is to my knowledge, the most complex economic and sociopolitical ranking system of any clan in this community. Based off real world Macroeconomics, our system is designed to emulate a functional economy as best as possible, with tax rates, a richer nobility, and a larger class of members with average levels of wealth. On top of that. our system is heavily based on rewarding skill and devotion, as well as wealth.

Core Roles
The Core of our economy is the average citizen, all members are taxed on their income, from peasants to nobility to the king, everyone offers up a percentage of their own wealth along with a lump sum depending on their in character role within the group. This is a system that benefits the middle of the line Player, the average citizen who sports 200k, which is fairly easy to make in our active economy. We aim for a core group of citizens who average around a stable 200k or higher, where taxes are easy to cover and the bulk of character benefits have been unlocked. Our system encourages everyone to push for greater wealth as it rewards those who go above and beyond. Refer to 'Economic System' for more information.

Economic System
The core of any great nation is wealth and stability, and those that push wealth and stability are without a doubt some of the most influential and powerful individuals within a group. From the small business owner with two dedicated employees to the great merchant millionaire who holds a stranglehold on the Iron Markets, those individuals who choose to go a step beyond average and establish themselves as individuals with the wealth to sustain themselves and support others, via pay or charity, are rewarded with continued faction benefits and greater in character control of roleplay based politics, as well as group politics. These economically minded individuals do however, gain a larger lump sum tax depending on their ranking.

Military System
But let's take a step back and be realistic folks? There arn't many people in mount and blade who play for the sake of economics and great fun. Many people want to kick back and slash around for a while, kill some things, smoke a few cigars, and know that in this skill based combat system, they were better than the other guy. Our system is designed to support a military core of players who can enjoy existing on the lower levels of wealth and also enjoy minimal taxes, while having the their gear, healing, food, and military costs covered for them. However, the military role is not a lazy one, Military players are required to attend training sessions when possible, be on active and inactive duty, and can be sold to other members of our factions or others as labor or mercenary forces.

Other Information
On the matter of maturity. There is no age requirement within our group, and their are no language or regional barriers, as we sport a diverse core of players from multiple countries on a multitude of continents. Each player is handled on an individual basis, respectful players of a younger age are welcome should they show a proper level of maturity, while older less savory figures are likely to be removed, it's all a matter of the individual in question.

Teamspeak is one of our requirements. Please don't take that to far out of context however, while it is our primary form of communication, it is not required that a person 'speak' via Teamspeak. The key factor that I like to stress here is the ability to hear the words of other officers and players, and while mics are heavily encouraged, they are not and shall not be a requirement. I would also request that those who gain access to our teamspeak be tame in the words they use, we' ranged from ten to thirty people on the teamspeak, depending on what may or may not be happening, so it's best to not have people competing for the right to speak.

Fairness and the value we place upon it. We all know that player, who bends the rules a little, or that player who robs, taxes, or steals without provocation. We are not a faction that Taxes, and we are not a faction that steals, exploits, or cheats in any other fathomable way. A certain level of respect is expected from all members of our community towards the server and its community on the whole. On that note, should any of you ever be robbed by a member of the Karthargo Clan, and are capable of providing any amount of evidence, you shall be Reimbursed.

I wouldn't really say that we are NA or EU in retrospect, we've a great number of players from both side of the great sink, we tend to go to whichever server is more active at the time of login. That being said, EU is fairly dead these days, so we've defaulted to NA with the bulk of the community. Hopefully that answer will satisfy those who it may concern.
