I had a tournament where my team sucked and I ended up having to solo basically 2 of the other enemy teams (4 teams initially and my team got wiped out at start so had to take care of that team then from the other 2 teams 1 team won with like 4 guys left).  Very last guy had a 2 hand sword ... I got hit just before i blocked and went from 100-0 1-hit KO.

...I guess you're not Khergit.  As Khergit I always PRAY for archery weapons for me.  I literally kill the entire other team by myself almost every time if I get them.  You poor non-Khergits..

i hate the ranged stuff except maybe the javelins if you know how to properly dogde ranged weapons not even Khergits can do much but die before your melee weapon

Well it's true that if you invested no points in archery, you will probably get killed in tournaments. Archers though ALWAYS have atleast basic meele knowledge, which makes them capable of winning a tournament.

It's kind of stupid, I agree. But tournaments are effing ridiculous anyways if you ask me. Sometimes I get a bow when the enemy gets a horse, sword and shield in the final I don't think this makes sense...

At least you can swing that dagger crazily.  I  just kill the horse and try to kill them before they stand

Its a hell of a lot easier than M&B.
Now you can get them with kick -> knife stun death. Not more than 1 though

Oh and whats worse, the melee contents...where the next 5 enemies that spawn all target you and ignore the others, even when spawning next to them ... RAGE!!!

I always hope I get a bow in the arena. With just a little power draw (4 should suffice, is what I start the game with) you just need to hope you don't get swarmed right at the beggining. I then make my way to the middle, steal a board and sword in case something goes wrong, and just headshot everyone as they appear. Then as the last 10 spawn at the same time I move to a side, let them kill each other until three remain (who inevitably all decide to kill me) and finish them off as they run in a straight line at me. Shield guys take two shots to the knees, but there's still plenty of time to kill them all.

Pity the bow is, from my experience, the rarest weapon to get. Shoots your proficiency up very fast though.

Kyn, just go kill an archer.

You should be able to manage -one- kill as an archer, between shooting like mad while they run at you then pulling the knife. Learn to stop block with the knife and it makes it even easier. So one down, grab his sword and board and away you go!
Mind you, this is why I refuse to go to tournaments in Khergit land. Everyone and their damn dog has a bow or javelins and it's just a pain. <
