Jousting Tournament?

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before but chances are they have. Why hasn't anyone modded in a Jousting Tournament in the game? The person who inflicts that couched damage would be the victor.I think it would be really cool.I myself have never been able to pull it off, but you could use the same map as the Zendar arena.

and im sure ther were hundreds of ppl also but i do also agree WHYNOT its sounds like a great idea to expand the tournament arena
 
I think it would get reeeally boring realy fast. And that players should have to furnish their own equipment for such a tournament.
 
ok have u seen that jouster movie where he takes the name of some utenburg thing it could be like that maybe a storyline forquests that make u a suberb jouster

I thought it was a good movie.

Anyway , i think it's a great idea , would be good if they made lances / jousting lances break as well.
 
Yes, but I think Zendar Arena ain't good for it. The 'arena' used in jousting tournaments should be quite narrow for realisms sake. And oh yeah, make it real, if you lose, you lose your horse, armor and weapons, if you win, you get the opponent's ones. Or maybe you can sell 'em back to him as per real life.
 
the problem i see with this, is this..
have EVER gone at an NPC lancer head on with your lance down and gotten hit? for some reason, you just win every time..

or maybe its just my 1337 jousting skills, lol, i've never had an NPC couched lance me head on while i was trying to do the same to him..

but maybe if the NPCs were given longer lances or something i dunno..
 
I see goods and bads of Jousting. First off the physics might have to be changed a bit... Jousting is a 1 pass event, so there would have to be a pause after every run. Also, there would have to be a target area to hit on, if not (like stated above) you would win almost every time. Acurracy should be the mark of the event. Maybe instead of broken lances, broken shields? You win when your opponent's shield breaks.

Also, a disqualification for hitting your opponent's horse. This could be considered cheating :?

It would be good to have but it would have to be changed and made to be difficult. I agree on winning your opponent's gear, but jousting should be like a mission, kind of. Maybe when you are at the proper rank for one of the kingdoms, you get invited every once and a while to a jousting tourney?

That would make it something to strive for in the game...
 
I like the target idea. In my opinion, it's the best way to simulate such a thing.
Maybe you could also choose between long and relatively short lances (the shortest being the one that inflicts most damage).
 
I'ven been planning on playing around with this idea for my Arena Expansion Mod, but haven't had time lately (and probably won't for some time).
If I do, it will use an arena with more space for the horses to get up to speed.

It sounds like it could be fun, but it may or may not work well with the game as it is now; I tend to agree with Raybur Ravenlock. Even if the AI lines up his lance just right, and you line up just right, which person gets KOed? It seems it might come down to chance for which hit registers first. The way the game seems to work, if a hit registers on a person and they are attacking, their attack is cancelled.

Still, who knows, might work out.
 
2-3 Times I've charged a couched lance AI... and we've both been knocked out at the same time... it wasn't in the tourney though, it was in the field.
 
it would be a good idea,the problem is that players who don't have polearms prophicency will always lose.

however, it would be great, imagine 2 knights riding oe in front of the other, in the classic joust arena, they charge the spear, they release it, a knight hits the other's head, he falls from the horse and his elmet flies away, while the other rises his spear in sign of victory. magnificent.
 
obviously, in strong impacts with enemy's shield or armor, the spear's head should explode il thousands of fragments :)
 
I think the biggest problem will be if there is no vitor on the first pass... The AI doesn't usually go back then line up for another charge...
