Not to mention, since his request to be killed was denied, what did he want?  He wanted to be a tourist attraction, displayed all over the country.  Ron Kovic pointed out that he wanted to take his terrible condition and turn it into something beautiful. 

More like a warning for the rest but from what I've gathered he knew the military wouldn't let him do either.

I remember one of my squadmates telling me about the book, and that it had one of the most moving endings he'd ever read.

He thought him being in a carnival could pay for his being moved around the country. (He thought that money was the sole reason they wouldn't do it.)

EDIT:The ending was easily the most ****ed up part. (for the movie anyway)
