It sort of does when it's coming in at you, but not when it's being loosed.
You sort of hear a "woosh" as you're throwing it and the javelin starts to cut the air.

It seems to me it makes a thud sound when it hits, that's kind of like very very soft wood. Or maybe that's the whoosh.
