It's like christmas, easter, and my birthday all rolled in one.

A neverending stream of sperm has just erupted from my purple-veined pillar of love.

Yeah, JA2 is a classic, top 10, maybe top 5 game. Silent Storm wasnt in the same league but had a good engine. Could be a good mix if they dont f it up.

Yeah, aside from the crazy panzerklein stuff SS was great - basically a near perfect engine, though not as user friendly as JA, with losey game content about halfway in that keeps it from being a classic.

Hopefully this will turn out to be a winner. I'm already shocked and awed.

I remember back in 94, 95 when I was 18 or so and used to play a lot of 3d games with no context at all. When I tried Jagged for the first time I thought "hey, this isn't good looking but I'll try it anyway". Then the party members personality, and that merc management feel to it, plus the strategical, non linear paths to territory conquest just got me hooked 24/7. I let go of everything else and would play that thing every day for at least three hours.

Some months ago I bought the whole collection just for the sake of it. I had a lot of fun playing that.

Looks surprisingly promising - still needs a lot of polishing perhaps but still...nice so far.

I just hope that true turn-based will remain.

Not my sort of game. But the gameplay and detail of the scenery looks good

EDIT: Typo corrected (been off lately, huh?)

So I thought before I played JA 1.

Same with xcom. I never thought I would be a tactical fan, but those two games are master works.

xcom has to be my favorite game of all time. I just thank Yahweh that turn based tactical games have not died off the way that RPGs have.

Presumably so, since SS uses turn based combat. Hmm, JA meets the physics goodness of SS....

**** you, and everyone even slightly like you. First thing tomorrow, you'll waltz into your local gamestore, and beg on your ****ing knees that they'll allow you to redeem yourself. You'll gladly pay whatever sum of money the shopkeeper will ask for, and give him any sexual favors he feels like. If you knew what was in store for you, you'd be at the wrong end of a bukkake session with a smile on your face, because you knew that salvation was within that box. You'd swallow every drop of semen with gratitude.

JA1 was fun but not quite 100% there yet which is why JA2 is the king of that franchise.  In JA1 I went to the final mission and decided to camp it, firing over the river. I figured out after awhile that Id blown it and the enemies were spawning endlessly. I pulled back and left Mike to die, hyperventilating with no breath left on the river bank. I patched up, swam the river and then stormed the building. It was a pretty good title.  JA2 is in the running for the game Ive played the most, edged out only by more recent fps games. JA2 and X-com being the undisputed kings of turn-based tactical games, imo, and most people who love the genre probably agree.

There are some really good mods for JA2, like Dierdriana Lives! and Urban Combat (iirc). I never finished either of them but played them quite a bit a few years ago.

Good site for JA news and mods:

Several years ago the C (or c++) source for JA2 was released to the public and there was an on-again, off-again project to add features to the game. I havent really kept up so Im not sure if its still going.

It's amazing to me that it's years and years later, but the graphics style is so strikingly similay...though a million times better.

Missed this post.

The original JA had a great infinite campaign addon you could buy. Man, I loved it. It had some time limits and crap but thankfully you could turn them off.

JA 2 had a lot of great stuff, but the rocket rifles were annoying and lame, I thought. However, it is the perfect tactical RPG, as far as I am concerned. I really don't think of it as just a tactical game.

I have yet to find a FPS I could bear to play, though, except as a lan game with friends.

Worbah, buddy, chum, friend of mine. Next time, read the whole post - alright?

Opinions differ from person to person.
