I've got so much looted gear, I can't sell it all!

Users who are viewing this thread

So I'm trucking along with my band of merry men and we're just getting to the point were we can take on merc bands and not all suffer horribly at their hands.

My problem is actually a good one to have.  I have too much loot.  I get so much stuff that when I hit the next town, I can't sell it all even amongst all the vendors.  So I head off, get in another fight, get more loot and then can't sell all of that.

What should I do?  Up my loot skill and just concentrate on cash and a few choice items?  Or is there a better way to sell.  Do the merchants carry more cash on hand if I have a better trade skill?  Did that last bit make sense?

Thanks,

This is a regular gripe; you can tweak the game a little but beware unwanted side effects:

http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,64279.msg1670883.html#msg1670883  (wait..trollinthecorner, trollface...you're not related are you?)

I don't really have this problem though; I generally hit three towns on each journey, if I'm out recruiting or whatever, and offload my gear there. If I have something worth 5,000 and the goods merchant has 2500, then I sell it for 2500.

I don't know about Trade points increasing the cash available though. I have never increased mine above whatever I was given at the start. Does anyone else find Trade useful in any way?

What you can do is buy them something. Then, they'll have the money to buy your stuff.

But if you're too much of a skinflint, you'll have to wait till the town gets richer by itself...

Hmm.  No relation to Trollface.  At least, none that I know of.  My sister is a Trollop though.

I'll have to start making the multi-town runs now.  I imagine this problem gets worse as you start getting better and more expensive loot.  The idea of buying something while selling is a good once, except I'm not finding a ton of stuff I want to buy right now.  Again that may be self correcting though.

I'm curious about what the Trade skill actually does other than allow you to get better prices and think up deals when selling from town to town.  Perhaps that's all it does?

Don't take everything you see. Once you have a little cash, pick a minimum loot value. Say, 750 denars. Don't loot anything worth less than that. As you start finding better and more expensive loot, raise that value. I wouldn't bother looting stuff worth more than 4,000, unless you want it or your companions could use it.

I set my limit at 200... But my character has a high Inventory Management Skill (7).
The important thing is to unload frequently in the towns you come by.

Why would anyone do that ? Loot them, then keep and store them in a Chest! That's what those are made for!...
You can use or sell later...

I started picking a minimum loot pretty soon after I started playing in native. Currently I loot nothing worth less than 1000, but as I hit 1mil denars last night it is jumping up to 2 or 3k... I would like the looting screen to show the value of the item as what it would be worth at a town with 0 relation with your current loot skill. If the prosperity of the town has any effect then it should be set at average. This would help a bit with loot revenue projections.

hey
i found out that somtimes the horse market can pay you even 20000
i did
also the goods market somtimes can deal with 4000 but usually you can sell him up to 2500

To me, the question is why would anyone go to the trouble for an item they won't use? It's not like money is ever tight for me.

I collect items. It's kind of an obsession for me. In the Wedding Dance, I have every female armour cataloged according to armour, then price, then weight. In this mod, it's swords. I collect swords. And catalog them according to damage, price, and weight.

Dude o_O got smacked against the head by a Dark Knight or two?

I've got 4 tempered hand and a half swords from a recent spat with Ragnar. Their sell price in cities ranges from 10000 to 12000 depending on which town I visit.
Even with a modest tweak to the merchant coffers (they have about 3500 instead of 1000 or whatever they normally have) I can't find anywhere to sell them.

I've ended up shoving them in a chest in Jelkala.

I wield a Masterwork Juweled sword, if you sell it instores you get: 36000 but to buy it it'll cost you 243711 denars! Found it in my battle with Rivacheg

Wow, it's such a relief to know that I'm not the only one. I collect Khergit Guard Helmets. They are USELESS, but I can't just get rid of 'em shiny things.

When you say you collect it where do you guys stash the stuff? In your castle's chests? Thats the only place i can think really.

Also, where is a good place to sell Gold bars?

When i loot a village i take the Gold Bars and it says value is 6000 dinars, but when i take it to market in a city i barely get 1300, where can i sell Gold for a premium? I cant believe these merchants would short-change me that badly!

I agree though, its best to give priority to valuable goods like Silk, Spices, Tools and Gold because these usually fetch a high price.

I wonder if it helps a village/cities prosperity if you bring a load of loot into town? I imagine it helps increase the prosperity level quicker

btw, what do you do with cattle other than kill them for meat? is there a way to salt the beef so it does not go off? I killed 8 cows and its causing a bit of a stink in my army

I bought a balanced jewel sword for like 108k in tihr.. they had enough dough to cover my treasures for weeks ^_^

Well, you must be the only two.

Although I must admit to having decked out all of my companions in that golden Kergit armour at one stage. Ahem. Higher visibility on the battlefield, I told myself.

Well, I need something to work towards. So I kill the **** out of things and take their stuff.

Currently, I'm only collecting masterwork blades or armours in NE and Wedding Dance, respectively.
