I've figured out how to *add* new weapon/armor textures

Users who are viewing this thread

However, it requires me to duplicate the entire "weapons1.dds" or "costumesX.dds" since I don't know where the UV coordinates are stored. The reason I even mention it is, if I'm going to duplicate the entire file, it'd be a good idea to replace all the textures in the given (or most of them anyway) and add new items for each thing replaced, so that resources aren't wasted. Can someone collect up all the various armor/weapons/shields etc texture mods for me? I'll compile them all into one big mod that adds them all as unique items.

Here's Lost Lambs stuff: http://www.savefile.com/filehost/projects.php?pid=786511 has two versions of his armor, and 2 great new shield textures

Checkmateys textures: http://taleworlds.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1716 I love his shields

mulaeeH's textures: http://taleworlds.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1605 screenshot's not working

I'll add more as I find them

Hey everyone,

Does anybody know a good tutorial of some sort. I know to use some the GIMP program functions (I made my avatar), but I don't know how to change the actual texture for the game.

Complete noob.

Quietus, get IrfanView, and open up the .dds file you want to edit from the textures folder. Save it as a jpg or something so you can edit it with gimp or whatever program you want. After you have finished editing it, convert it back to a .dds file. You may also want to read the shine problem thread so you can learn how to avoid that.

feel free to use my weapons mod... warn you tough... i didnt know how to fix the shinyness problems on seperate textures so the shields and axe handles shine... unfortunately...

You know what I really want? Shields specific to the Vaegir or the Swadians. That way, you could tell Vaegir from Swadian in the heat of combat. There could be several designs for each, possibly faction-distinguished by color, shape, or general style. Then bandits and the like could use unmarked shields. These might replace the Heraldic Shields, and others with specific markings, so that heraldry would be restricted to the two factions.

In fact, heraldic marks could also be added to other wearable items—in particular armor and horses. I think this would be a really neat addition. Maybe I could even do it . . .

Thanx Mitsu! I use Irfanview, but I need to download a plug-in to view the .dds file apparently. I don't know about the shine problem , I'll look for it.

Nice idea Simetrical, you should add to the suggestions forum.

It wouldn't be hard to add armor specific to either side. I'm not going to go into the details, but I might make a mod like that (it would be easily doable from troops.txt)
