It is currently next to impossible to level Riding

Users who are viewing this thread

I don't know if a thread on this has been made before, but this is an important issue given how a lot of high-tier horses are skill gated.

Riding is supposed to improve by fighting on Horseback and doing damage via speed bonus, however this currently only applies to bows from what I'm told. Leaving every other weapon type unable to level Riding in what is supposed to be the most active and common way. I feel this needs to be addressed so higher-level horses can actually be used without the need to cheat.

Same goes for athletics, I have been focusing on running around the battlefield on foot as much as possible for over 4 hours and had no impact on the skill..

I am certain this will be addressed. Using lances, spears, and swords on horseback should also give speed bonuses and riding exp.

Turns out athletics levels quickly when using a crossbow.... Who knew.. @TaleWorlds can we get a guide of how leveling works/boosts to leveling please... Currently at 70hours in and still feel I am missing Alot.

It's pretty obvious that all skill gains are ****ed in one way or another. I've been playing ~20 hours on this save and my leadership only went from 15 to 16.

Mine has ticked once. 250-ish days of game time, God knows how many battles... Athletics (a heavily focused skill) is still below 50. Riding (also heavily focused) has just hit the 70's. Even worse, companions grow at a fraction of that rate. I think the fastest I've seen (outside of scouting, which is probably the fastest of the lot) was one companion rising by four or five points in a skill, in a couple hundred days of game time.

XP and skill gains are utterly fubar at the moment.

I think the game is designed to be played for a long long time. Just that the snowballing issue is preventing players from reaching far into the game.

u just need high morale (70+++) or running around with armies.
Leadership is for leading armies and not small warbands

Current Game
Day 354

The leveling is going great. Except for Athletics. I've been running since day 1 on foot with certain short-period exceptions.... It take the life out of me.

Leadership levels just as it should (you need firstly focus points in it and secondly you need to lead armies, so having big armies you lead will level leadership insanely fast. Easiest way is to have your companions get their own parties and just follow you all the time)... The player leveling is not the main issue.

Main issues is the damn perksystem not working and allocating the points and skills to your companions. I annoy myself so much not being able to put focus points in medicine on my medic and scouting focus points on my scout.. They take ages to level... and when they level to decide to put the point in polearm (which they don't have and use as their weapon currently)

It seems allocating points to your companions is only available if you quickly run to Poros on day 1 and hire an companion before the second day commences. After the 2nd day all companions are auto allocated into retardic skills. Because players cannot allocate points in companions they also don't level. Because you won't level a 200 two handing skill anymore. Especially with no focus points in it. Putting companions in Quartermaster role with 0 int and 0 focuspoints will allow them only to reach level 1 in that skill. Most Companions should start at level 1-3 with certain predefined skill points and perhaps.some veteran fighters of level 10. but that's it.

Yeah, my riding is almost level 90 now on day 200. I started with 3 endurance and 2 focus points in riding because it was a big deal in older M&B to be decent at riding and polearm before even trying horse archery and it just has levelled up as I went along. I fight most battles on horseback and have ridden around towns and done a huge amount of trading taking steppe horses from the south up to Vlandia and Battania. Of the 25 hours I put into that character at least 15 have been exclusively in Hideout and Tournament fights so quite a bit of fighting on foot despite always riding while fighting Looters and Lords armies. My Stewardship is also nearly 100 now but bow is still at 68 and thrown only at 24 despite those being my main weapons. I use a war razor or short sword as my other main weapons and one-handed and polearm are both in the teens so...

Scouting and riding supposedly benefit from riding through difficult terrain and riding at maximum speed (how else is there to ride, was trying to figure that out earlier).

I know, but it's still wrong. Being locked out of skill and its perks just because player prefers not to be a general goes against sandbox nature of the game where you can be a trader, manhunter, bandit, etc.

No Sir it does not go against the nature of a Sandbox. you make specific choices and get rewarded or punished for it. I think you are looking to be a God in Calradia and be good in everything, but that is not how things are like.

For example if you spent your life trading around the world. That would make you and excellent charmer and trader.. you could perhaps cut the cost of you slaves, buy the best bargains, know where to find new rumors etc. However that would not make you a good General. In fact I would think that a trader would run from a war as fast as his legs could carry him. This can be said about a lot of things. So If you are only running around and killing armies, this would make you a good general/ tactician but not a good trader or charmer... Wouldn't you agree?

So you can specialise your sandbox experience to the way you play.
