Issues with enemy Lords

Sergeant at Arms
Why is it that whenever we take a castle of an enemy lord no sooner does a half a dozen of his buddies show up to sack "your" new fief?  Then on top of that, they may only have 30 or 40 in their contingent, per Lord.  So if you have say 45 in your group, the lords, scatter and run.  You cannot catch them, especially if the majority of the enemy is on horse back like Khergits - they will always seem to be .1 speed faster than your group.  If you drop some troops below the enemies amount though...look out.  Now those half dozen lords turn, and come after you, and what pisses me off is they always seem to travel faster - even if they are mostly on foot!  So what gives?  Why is this happening?

Why can't their be a trigger that is introduced that when you are patrolling an area and the Lords see that you have a large force present they will leave that fief or area alone for say a week and try to come back and sack it at a later time.  Can this not be added to the game?  It is so frikking frustrating that a flaw in the game mechanics enables the game to pretty much cheat.

hmmm, mebbe you should learn to beat them instead of whining? Personally I have no problem with that, it's realistic(i.e. everyone acts like a total bastard to you) and I've simply found ways to counter them. I find that the harder the game is, the more imaginative and driven Do I have to be to stay on top of it. Which is a good thing. If you don't like evolving, then don't play the game.

Did you even read what I wrote?  Do you even comprehend what I am saying?  Do you think I am whining about actually having to fight them?  I think not.  The problem is catching them!  You cannot tell me that is is cool to be out numbered 5 or 6 to 1 - ever.  It is silly that they will run just because you have one more troop than they have.  It is silly that they will not run if you are equal to or 1 unit greater than you...then they will engage you.  That is not cool.

And no...I do not play this game on easy mode and I also do not do, like some, and faceroll the game with Swadian Cavalry...or use cheats.  All I am asking for is for the games desginers to fix what seems to be a broken games mechanic.

If you cannot make a comment other than to say stop whining and learn to play....do not comment.  OK thanks.

What's your pathfinding and party morale?
The higher those, the faster you go.
Also if your companions are mounted they need high riding skill and if on foot athletics I believe. (Just as your own skills for yourself)
Also if you're carrying around a lot of stuff, some "pack horses" wouldn't hurt I guess.

Agree with OP, in that it is annoying. But it's also realistic, I think. I mean, you can't catch them, right, so why should they stop raiding your fiefs?

Wait for nighttime, it's easier to isolate individual war parties. In general just shadow them for long enough and eventually one of them will screw up and wander slightly further away than the others....

I did read your post and I repeat - their behaviour is exactly as should be expected from a real opponent - do one's best to screw up the enemy. I act like them as a matter of fact. It's called calculating risk. If you can't hold a castle after you capture it, then you have to make sure you can provide it with a really good garrison right after capture so it can hold off assaults. If you have problems with chasing them, then you need to improve on pathfinding and gather a force of faster moving troops. All of these 'issues' as you call them are only issues until you find a way to overcome or go around them. So I suggest you shut up and try to come up with a way around your problems.

Wow...is this guy for real?  Seriously...I've seen my share of trolls...but this one...this one is special.  Short bus is this way.  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>  You need some serious anger management little boy.

Wait are you complaining that you're too slow or that you would rather lords be smarter and keep chasing after you if their numbers in total are larger than your forces, even if, individually, their armies are smaller than yours?

I don't have anger management issues, you do. You wouldn't start this thread if it was otherwise. Read the post above mine and you'll see how ridiculous you sound.

If there are four or five enemy armies in that area of your village trying to plunder it.  When you approach those armies run away like roaches.    Back off and they immediately turn around and head back.  Turn around and charge at them and once again they turn tail.  Here is the thing.  If you are equal in number or one member lower to the highest enemy army, they all charge you.  Clearly they must communicate!  LOL!  It is funny that combined(when I had a few troops more than their largest army), they would out number me 4 or 5 to 1.  Surely the programmers can either have them realize this or do what I suggested in my first post.    Have them think it is unsafe to continue trying to attack the village and g osomewhere else for say a few days.  Is that really to much to ask for...to give some actual artificial intelligents to the MOBs?

I tend to think of it as strategic maneuvering. They don't necessarily want to fight you or care for battle loot that much, maybe they just want to bog you down or deny you the use of your village (for recruiting or something). Of course I know that's not know the AI 'thinks'... but it's easy to rationalise their behaviour like this.

Besides, think of how easy it would be to exploit if the devs did put in something like that. You just have to make a circuit of all friendly fiefs and none of them will ever get raided, as they will stay away for a few days and by the time that timer runs out, you can come back again.

I think you should look to improve your party's movement speed. I have a party full of foot soliders (playing a Nords save) and still outrun anything. Enlist borcha into your party, and invest in pathfinding (I think it's pathfinding, which increases MS.) Make sure ALL your companions have horses. With just these two steps, you'll be moving wonderfully fast.
