Summary:
Lamellar half-barding looks appropriately like lamellar half barding - it's lamellar plates (or rawhide) covering the front or upper half of the horse.
On the other hand, the full covering version of this armour is labelled "Reinforced mail barding". But certainly there is no visual appearance of any sort of mail. Instead it appears to be the same lamellar head and neck armour, with a heavy quilted/studded blanket on the horse's flanks.
Should this armour be more appropriately labelled "Reinforced lamellar barding"??
