Okay, took the monastery quest and chose the farmers.  The Jarl is angry, but I accept the quest to kill the king.  I rescue the village from the Vikings and due to the Jarls douchebaggery and unwillingness to help the village I tell the king I was supposed to kill him.  Now I am constantly hunted by the Friesens, the king lets me go when I encounter him, but it seems I have no way to ever get back in his good graces even though he has given me control of a town I still draw rents from.

Wherever I go, I am recognized as the Friesen kings noble and cant pledge to another king.  I seem to be stuck.

To be frank, I don't know what the end of the story mode hold for the land of Friese. The only viable way for you now would be to activate cheats in the Warband launcher. Then Press Ctrl + X in the inventory screen until you have 30 000 I think. Teleport right next to the king and talk to him before he follows you. He won't attack you, ergo, you will have the chance to ask the king to cease hostilities with you. Problem fixed. After that I suggest you save, exit and turn the cheats off again.

You probably shouldn't have become a vassal so soon, especially to Frisia. The point of the storyline is that
you get exiled from Frisia after a few quests and become a vassal for one of the main factions.

I would recommend asking to be released from your oath and continuing with the story quests.

I did similar, it was pretty easy to pay off one of the Frisian Lords who was in good with me (Now my father-in-law). Only cost little over 10,000. I am still on good terms with the original Jarl too, he is actually a friend though he got nothing from me as I gave the land to the farmer and saved the village.
