Is there a way to change faction troops?

Hi,

Is there a way to change faction troops? I finally started my own faction with Roman Catholicism as the religion, and I can only recruit baltic units. Is there a way to recruit standard western units? To get knights or even spearmen? Only way I can get any knights is through Monastery's.

Troops are sadly only determined by region, not religion and it doesn't change (and can't be altered) during the course of the game session. Only permanent solution is to abandon your current fief and relocate westwards. Otherwise you're stuck with mercs and the occasional freed prisoners.
