Is that possible to make group forums partly open

Currently, adding discussion forum to the closed group is giving us closed, non-public forum for discussions. Is there a way to keep some discussions internal, and others accessible to public (at least in read-only)?

Not likely, sorry. Accessibility of group discussion forums to the public (rather than strictly group members) is determined solely by whether the group is open to the public or closed. I'll put in a suggestion for this with the addon author, though, so it might possibly end up being implemented eventually.
