Is my wife unfaithful

Can anyone expand a little on controversy - I have encountered it a lot when Marshall and know by reports that it contributes to the naming of new Marshalls - I also know it's a factor when the King is deciding who and who not to give fiefs to.  I appreciate the main way to get it is if you fail to protect villages from pillage while Marshall but what made my jaw drop was when I visited my wife and found she had 43 controversy!!!  Wth?

To my simple brain - the only possible reasons could be:

1) infidelity on her part
2) overspill from maxing out my own controversy as Marshall
3) some other kind of treachery I was unaware of.

Controversy is slow to leave the records - maybe this is a factor? Does it affect me if my wife has it? - how is it there?

Dude, I am so sorry. We had a few drinks and one thing led to another and....you know how it goes. It only happened once or twice.....12 times, tops.

It's like when you get your own castle/city and a wife to go with it, and you realize that there's some lord, that you've never even talked to before, that spends all his time in your halls, keeping company to her while you're away fighting for the good of the realm and putting some bread on the table.

That happened to me on a previous game... it was quite annoying that I couldn't at least kick the bastard out... even more so that he actually loved me! I had never met him before and my relation with him was already more than 80! Which makes sense: free accommodations, free food and a nice young woman... who wouldn't love the sucker that provides them with all that?

From your post in the Q&A thread...

I believe it should have come from before you were married. When a lady has multiple suitors, her controversy seems to rise.
I do not believe it has any effect on you, at least not now that you are married.

The only time I've seen ladies with controversy is this multiple suitors situation. And it takes forever for it to drain away on them. Perhaps it "gets stuck" on ladies that you marry when the game changes whatever bit of coding to make her your wife. In any case...fairly certain it doesn't matter.

Controversy goes up any time that there's a personal dispute between two NPCs. You can't control the rumor mill. It doesn't drain away for ladies, which is a bug, but it doesn't affect anything.

It affects our feelings man! *sniff* I can't believe taleworlds completely ignore the emotions of their customers :(

@ Velax and Maestor Pickle - lol - awww you guys - schucks! And I was saving up for her to have special medication for her raging gonorrhoea herpes and syphilis. Not to mention that affliction that seems to attack her immune system.

@ Nijis - thanks for the clarification - she got it almost at total random and had never had controversy before. I'm gonna keep a keen eye on her in case it was a previous suitor. Or Velax or Maestor Pickle.

@ Fearless - chill dude I reprimand my own

Ah so some else has one of these too... Pretty annoying I agree... There is fully something going on I wish there was a duel option no matter what so you could just fight the dude...

Maybe she got the controversey when someone saw her with me while i was showing off my massive muscles. Your wife is too ugly for me to date her but there was a VERY good reason for why i did that and it's quite easy to understand.

You see, she's pretty high up so i asked her if she knew anyone who could make me a male model, she said that she did but that she needed me to show her my muscles to see if i'm good enough, I wanted to be a male model because everyone thinks their gay (i'm not, no offence meant to gay people or male models) and the female models are next door.

girls always let gay guys massage them with cream so i thought that i could do that but there's a perfectly innocent reason of doing that. usually those models have celebrity husbands so while i massage those models i take secret pictures of me massaging them (i blur my face out later) and sell those photos to a newspaper/town crier or whatever they have in Calradia and i also tell the newspapers/town criers i'm not gay. they pay me lots of money, the models get divorced and become second-hand bar maids, the husbands join the army because of grief and i buy God of War 3, a PS3 wireless headset and a 3D TV with the money.

Unfortunately your wife also wanted to see private muscles like my buttoxes but i refused and walked out the door with my magnificent legs of awesomeness. I guess someone saw the whole ordeal, sorry. :)

Since I am the kind person I am, I'll tell you some advice, as well as something good.

First, advice. Don't marry. Now something good. Henry VIII of England killed several of his wives. For much stupider reasons that cheating, I do believe.

A wise man once told me that it is better to be power hungry and manipulative than a cheater. Because most of the times, if your wife is power hungry, you'll end up dieing long before you realize she betrayed you. But if she's a cheater, you'll find out before you die.

You knew her personally, or you watched the tv series or you read what was written about her in retrospect by people who most likely, had many reasons not to like her?
