Is it worth starting a new campaign right now?

yeah, and not only that... they need to fix leveling progression. Roguery is VERY SLOW to level, for example. They need to balance leveling or it will be annoying amounts of grinding...

and no rebellions in 1.5.6? God damn it... what are we even getting?
probably some scenes & equipment. Snowballing fixes, some changes to perks. Security & Loyalty fixes. Fixes

Yes I would say wait for next patch, I am almost out of content to publish however I feel that next week its a good estimation of the patch and it am hoping it will contain some real good things like snowballing, education system, so I do plan on waiting even though I am done with all my playthroughs, of course not the ones that are bugged like low roguery or death bug.. But to me snowballing is the biggest thing I look for, I do hope they rework charm also, since only that, eng and smithing are left

I don't really think next patch will address the main issue with the game (according to myself, to make it clear): fighting is the only thing to do.

On the other side, combat got more polished since launch and is relatively fun. If you played 50 hours on launch and is itching to play, I think you should. Decide how you want to fight, stick to the appropriate combat related skills on your main character and you should have some fun.

I think the best way to enjoy the game right now is by being a mercenary. Joining a faction is detrimental to the experience because it's just jumping from war with faction X to a war with khuzaits, with times of peace in-between with nothing to do. By being a mercenary you can fight whoever you want whenever you want, using whatever troops you feel like. The only problem is if you want to play with different troops you have to dump your party, instead of putting them in a garrison, but perks that shorten the training time makes that significantly easier as the game progresses

One thing that helped me stay into the game with over 2,000 hours into it, it that I like to do a lot of different things. Whether it's fighting, trading, smithing. Also when it comes to a game, make a different way to do it, horse archer, foot soldier, only use bandit troops, help one nation, like sturgians take over the world, think of a new way to play the game. If you are into a lot of things then you can still enjoy the game in early access. For me being on beta branch this is the biggest downfall, when you know a branch is soon and don't want to start a new campaign, the waiting sucks.
Not a lot of people trade, I find it really fun and if you want to learn, I got a series and tutorials to teach you everything, to me it is fun, others might not and that is cool and what is great about Bannerlord, there are a lot of things you can do differently and you really think about it.

This question pops up every week or so, people say "wait" until the next patch to start, rinse and repeat. The only thing that got me back playing was adjusting the custom troop mod to my likings. I am bored to tears with this game.

1257 ad mod would keep you playing

Personally I would wait like 2/3 months until real stuff is added. Since you've played there has been some QoL, armors, fixes, quests, etc etc, nothing really substantial in my opinion, even though you'll maybe have a good time if you play for a while

From what I read earlier, Rebellions will not be in 1.5.6 I could probably find it, nut look at 1.5.7

I am expecting at least rebellions, that is something I consider substantial, and maybe children education, even though I'm not expecting it to be substantial, it will probably a very menu interface thing and will not raise interactions, it will feel, just like marriage like a chore to do rather than something to improve your immersion but another things are for example, the improved garrisons mod, diplomacy options, things to do in towns and in taverns, and more interactions between lords, effects that make the world feel dynamic, I'm sure will not be added soon, or at all during development or EA. Basically what we have is what we get, but at least in 2/3 months it will be fixed and perks will be finished
