A village fights back an army 400 attacker :

1. when they come to force a recruitment
2. when the force them to give supplies?

I propose:

1. They defend themselves against a raid - fight for their lives.
2. They don't fight back against a bigger army when: when they are under forced recruitment/ Cede supplies
