Is it possible to build an Empire?

Hey guys i just finished the main quest where you get access to your own kingdom and i'm at clan level 4. I do like that i can merge all my companions forces into one army as now it means i can now start to conquer heavily defended settlements. One thing i realized when i had a look at the diplomacy tab is that other kingdoms have armies 10 times the force i have.

Due to the companion limitations and limitations of the amount of troops you can have it seems unlikely that i'll be able to match any of those forces unless i perhaps try and grind to clan level 10. Has anyone tried to build an empire and compete with the other factions and if so how did you do it?

I'd imagine it's just like in Warband. Camp in your main settlement with you best troops and capture all the lords you can, then just blitz them.

You can convince other clans to join your kingdom through speech checks. It will take a lot of effort but you will be able to add more "manpower" to your kingdom this way. They will bring over any fief or armies that they have which can be useful. I usually try to convince any enemy lord that I happen to meet because there is always a chance they will turncoat.

create and maintain your own kingdom features are not in the game as of yet (just partial release), just check the EA info.

Singleplayer Features: Several planned single player features may be missing or incomplete. These include but are not limited to: full game controller support, some skill and perk effects, crafting, some aspects of sieges, and clan, army and kingdom management.

what you have now is just the barebones ...

Fair enough, i hope it arrives soon enough as building an empire is my overall goal. My end goal is always boring. Conquer EVERYTHING. It's the journey to get there that makes the experience so immersive

You can convince other clans to join your kingdom. It will be nearly impossible to just conquer Calradia with only your companions because their party size will always be limited unless you mod it, and they can never "own" a city/fort so they will never bother defending it or clearing bandits around it. ( even the current clan owners rarely do )

I never liked making my own kingdom in warband, i dont really know why but i just dont.

Taking over an existing kingdom from the inside out however is a whole other story, cant wait for when they bring this in.

I use steam for controller, I have everything I want with the xbox controller even without support.

Yea but then i'd have to be at war with the faction to get them to join my side and that risks thousands descending on me lol. I was at war with Battania and i'd fight off 300 troops only for a short while later another army to march towards me and they merely had two settlements lol.

I use a controller to however do you not find there is a bug with the spear at times. Sometimes when im on horseback when i want to thrust the spear at the enemy nothing happens. I almost have to repeatedly pull the trigger button or wait a second or two for it to work which is frustrating

As i said i have never had my own kingdom, not even in warband ( except Viking Conquest ) so i am not sure about this, but you can't try to convince lords in peace either?

I know i've had the option when at war, but you cannot barter them to join your kingdom with money or something?

I'm building my own kingdom now after Battania and Khuzait each took over half the map. Plenty of systems are in place, you can set policies and you can still declare war and make peace it just doesn't work on the kingdom screen as the button is grayed out. War can still be started by raiding or attacking another lord and peace can be made by talking to one, it does cost a few denars though.

As I said you can set policies for your kingdom, even with 0 support from other lords as you're the ruler and you can assign fiefs when you've taken them (either to you or another clan) but you cannot revoke someone's ownership or reorganise it anyway, it simply works the same as it does for other kingdoms. Right now I'm marching across the north of Calradia with my army in tow. I haven't encountered a ridiculously huge army that numbers in the thousands yet, most seem to be between 300-900 men and that's definitely doable at Tier 3 with some high steward skill companions (I just hit tier 4 and can currently have 250 men in a party,my wife's party numbers at 180 so yeah that works too) especially with the fact that you can reorganise their armies and work on giving them better troops as well. So really you might end up in a fight with 400v900 but you can pretty much stack your 400 to be top tier troops and just roll over the enemy lol

You can also flip other lords with speech so that's handy, they'll bring their fiefs and the rest of their clan over so you'll fair even better if you do that.

Perhaps, i'll try it out. As a total war player all i seek is one thing, domination. Funny since i against imperialism in the real world lol

Oh i play plenty of Total War myself, as my favorite Legendary Lord from TW:Warhammer always says; You will serve me in life, or slave for me in death (c) Vlad Von Carstein

Thanks for the tips. I'm at level 4 and can only field 160 troops in my part and my clans can only field like 80, is there are other ways to increase the party limit? I though it just depended on what clan level you were at?

No matter how much i love historical total war especially Three Kingdoms i have to say Warhammer probably just does it for me more than all the others. Might have to get another campaign going soon lol

Stewarding definitely increases it, not sure if leadership does but I have a feeling that also helps as well. I currently have about 110 in stewarding if that helps. So keep weapon proficient companions with you and put your high social companions in charge of the parties

Clan level,steward/leadership and some other perks factor in aswell ( there is even a perk that allows you to increase your companion limit )

Aside from that only mods. But i highly doubt you are meant to rule a kingdom with only your clan though.

Same, i loved Medieval/Shogun/Rome 2 but they really out did themself with Warhammer. I cannot wait for the third, or for the fantasy mods that will eventually be released for bannerlord such as LOTR or a warhammer mod

You can always right click a companion in the tavern tab ( not inside the actual tavern ) or look them up in the encyclopedia to see what stats they have. Their nickname is always a hint aswell. "The Lucky" have some points in tactics but we dont really know if that does anything so far for companions.
