ALL THE NORD JARLS!!! WHY WONT THEY LEAVE TILBAUT CASTLE ALONE

Tilbaut, the Nords consider it their "Rightful Property" in the game  codes. They will always try to repo it.

Boyar Meriga, that bastard

Meriga is programmed to be a douche in the game codes. Permanent state of douchey-ness.
On the bright side, if you help the Khergits or Nords capture his town, it will be gratifying to see him fiefless.
And since he is a such a douche, even if the Vaegirs conquer it back, their king will just keep it for himself.
I tried that before, I was so happy when the Vaegirs took it back, their king declared it his own considering Meriga is a douchebag towards everyone. Nobody will vote for him or award him any fief.

I once went on a crusade against Swadia because Klargus raided my fief while I was a Khergit. Didn't take very long for me to reach Praven but of course a treaty was declared just as I was arriving...So I went and talked to my good old friend Dustum Khan

Good show my man! Thats the spirit!

For me it's Count Raichs, from the Rhodoks.

Noticing that he's the only remaining count in the kingdom who's on bad terms with Graveth, I tried convincing him to join my kingdom. But he's a complete DOUCHE. It eventually go to the point where I said, "You know what? Screw you. While it may be strategically advantageous to have you join me, I'm just gonna kick your arse, take your castle and imprison you as a matter of principle."

And then I did.

I will throw a feast for you if you show us pictures of him in your dungeon.

And to add more insult to injury, his son, formerly Count now Lord Fudreim joined me less than a day later of his own accord. I then rewarded him with his father's castle.

Count Laquruen of Kingdom of Rhodoks, hes very rude.

HIM!  In my first game, he became my arch-nemesis! I owned Ilydia and Praven, and couldn't leave that vicinity for more than half a day without somebody trying to raid it... and as often as not it was Laquruen.  The number of times I curb-stomped his ass for showing his face in Swadian lands was absolutely epic. I think I was down to -30 something relations with him, and only captured him once. The rest was that -1 popularity hit you take when you tell somebody to surrender or die.

While it amuses me now, at the time it drove me nuts. I swear that character had the worst capture ratio I've ever had.  30% chance of a Lord escaping after a battle? More like 99% with that PC. I went through in-game months of hard campaigning and constant fighting without a single capture.  Then it turned around and within the space of a couple weeks I'd captured half the Nord lords, including King Ragnar.

HAH! Good show my lord! I shalt send out the servants to prepare an epic feast on your behalf! Well done! On the bright side, once you kicked his ass, his little boy Fudreim finally figured out he aint gonna be stupid like big daddy. Nice!

Just to let this to a point, douche like Jarl Heada raides your village more often to make the game harder. Thats how its developed

Harlaus. Just Harlaus. Stupid douche throws up parties when I need help.

That is why I don't keep villages.

But money income =O

I get like 1.200 income from 2 villages and I get a 2.000 income from my castle. I have to pay 4.000 to my troops

Before I join a faction I get a dye works in every city except Velucia (Sp?) where it doesn't turn a profit and because I modded it to be a bit more realistic (I buy supplies for 80% of value because of buying in bulk) an average dye works turns a profit of 900 or so denars a month which ends up being around 20k a month without a party to pay so I just save up for a little bit before I do join a faction. When I do join a faction I also have super high renown so the king gives me just about anything I want so I just get a stackload of towns after I take them solo with a stack of huscarl's.

I do the tactic of not keeping villages as well. I prefer something defensible like castles n towns, with enterprize income from towns as the main income source.

Actually, the only villages I would accept are those at the arse end deep inside my faction territory. If I see someone trying to raid them, they cant escape that easily in hostile territory. I would pursue them with a calvary army to outrun them. If they can outrun me, it means they are puny weak. They have a high chance of getting intercepted by other friendly lords or get jumped by bandits, while I'm flushing them out on the chase

defecting Lords..  Rafarch, Clais and so many others.

Clais' penchant for defection just saved the Nords in the game I'm currently playing. My PC was working as a merc for the Sarranids, kicking around the Rhodoks and building his rep. When the contract came up, I noticed the Nords were neck deep in trouble, having lost Tihr to the Swadians. I rode across the land to join them, and right after I did the Vaegir took Wercheg -- and then rode off.

What does the Nord Marshal do? Decides to raid a Vaegir village with almost 400 Nord troops instead of taking back Wercheg from a garrison of 40 Vaegir soldiers. So the PC does the heavy lifting, of course, but then Wercheg's sitting there, a nice, fat, plum target which the Vaegir seem inclined to take back...

...and just as it looks like they will, Clais defects, brings us Dhirim (which has yet to be sieged in this game, and has grown crazy-ass powerful), and gets his big honking army of Swadian elites riding toward Vaegir lands.  It'll be a mess watching that plus the Nord infantry capacity in a battle.

differs a lot.. In my game the Nords are taking over Swadia and the Vaegir can't keep wercheg for long.
but I really don't like the swadian lords  Clais is a buffoon

Oh yeah, completely agree. In my first game the Nords were a steamroller from Hell that appeared destined to take over most, if not all, of Calradia. They wiped out the Vaegir, save for one castle and its village, kicked the asses off the Khergits, knocked the Rhodoks down a peg, and were constantly giving the Swadians grief -- in spite of my PC having sided with the Swads.

This game? Barely a faction left.

Oh hello, Harlaus. Planning to take back those castles we lost to the Nords, oh, a few months ago? No? What about the cities? Not a chance, eh? Okay.

So what are you doing? Planning a feast? Cool.

And your going to proceed to name a lord marshal during the feast! Excelent! Finally some... what, why did you just name a new marshal? What the... what are you doing? THATS IT, PREPARE TO DIE!
Does that answer your question?
