Is anyone happy with the Horse as loot drop rate reduction?

I don't really like this. On one hand, it kind of felt ridiculous to have 100s of worthless Sumpter horses, but on the other, having any sort of heavy cavalry kind of relies on being able to capture Warhorses. A 65% reduction in Warhorses, hurts. I mean I can recruit (when I can find them) Heavy Lancers for 350 gold but if I raise them from scratch, that cost goes up to like 1000-2000 gold each IF I actually have to buy warhorses at cities. If they are going to make looting warhorses rare, then they need to adjust the price of warhorses down to like 200-300 gold at cities.

I personally think they should fix the bugs and stuff and only once they start getting into the “adding & developing new features” should they start nerfing players in order to balance the game...

I actually like it. It was too easy to have hundreds of horses in your army for sure. I'm still getting enough from battles anyway, haven't had to buy any yet.

My tip for you is to buy the horses at the village which produces them, not the towns. They're a good deal cheaper there. And also just buy the cheapest one (maybe battania's?). Don't go to some Aserai village.

Heavy cavalry sourcing their horses exclusively from captured enemies' mounts would be hilariously unhistorical.

Interesing. I did not know that any village produced horses. I will have to check that out.

Agree but if you have to pay 1000+ for each horse, then it becomes ridiculous to attempt to have heavy cavalry in your forces AND as I mention, you can recruit heavy cavalry w/horse for 350 gold. That being the case, warhorses need to be around 300 gold to equal out on the recruitment cost.

I think its fine. Of course you have Problems to get war horses in the beginning, but with a) trading or b) getting fiefs you get enough money to buy some war horses (800-1.3k is fine) and get strong enough to fight battles where you get war horses as loot. Thats how i did it in my 2nd run (was created before the nerf, but i also bought a couple of war horses and i think it is fine to do this longer the next run)
I guess another option is a mainly infantry army and some non-warhorse cavalry for flanking and enountering enemy (ranged) cavalry - but also a set of T4 ranged infantry can deal with it pretty solid i think.

In my opinion the prices are fine and with a ok bit of effort you get to a state where you dont have problems to get war horses. High Tier cavalry is a very strong tool in field battles and i think it is fine that the access to it needs a higher requirement compared with other units.

Edit 1: Y buy them at villages. It CAN be much cheaper than in town. (dont really know the conditions when prices in villages are high/low)
Edit 2: But to get Heavy cavalry from towns a) you need a good relationsship with the townsman (needs time/effort) and b) you need come back a couple of times to get as many as you want. (and maybe you want to be somewhere else at this time  ) - but y recruiting vs horse cost is an argument in the one (lower horse prices) or another (rise recruitment prices) direction.

Yeah each village has a primary product and it's always (I think) cheaper than buying that product in towns. This also helps determine what workshops will be profitable

I think it is alright. You still get plenty of horses imo.

What workshop is good for the city mainly depends on the stock of raw materials the town has as far as i know and read in another thread.
And prices in villages just should be less than in the close citys around them, because they are not good/low (for that product) at all times.

If you zoom in the village from the overworld map, you'll be able to see what's their primary production without even going there.

1000 is super cheap. But actually cavalry should be more expensive. Like 1350 instead 350.

OK I could see this. Honestly the game would probably be more interesting if there was less cavalry...well unless you are Khuzait since they depend so much on Cavalry.

Overall I get a lot less of money early on, which makes early game a hell of a grind...Barely loot or gold after battles against looters.

Dont if its just bad luck on my part but previous version have been a lot easier.

The loot from defeating the lord's army is just tremendous regardless of how many horses lol. We can easily accumulate tons of money and but whatever we want lol (even lords, i tried once and she required 40K, which is not too much when you have an invincible calvary troop.

I think this is a good "nerf". Cavalry is really strong and if you have a lot of it then the game becomes too easy.

I don't like the nerf mostly because it seems to be contributing to my lack of ability to fight the death spiral of my faction.

I lost my army and had to rebuild, but I couldn't find many horses, so I only had a tiny cavalry and troop on horseback bonus. The enemy seems to have plenty of cavalry, so I could not catch enemy forces close to my size to defeat them. Enemy groups bigger than I am were also close to my speed or even faster because of all their cavalry, so I was defeated again. The few victories I did have only gave me 3-4 horses. In the end I was captured by an army nearly twice my size that was probably 40% horse archers and cavalry. At that point, I realized that without horses I just couldn't win enough fights to get enough horses to start reliably choosing battles.

The horse and cavalry speed bonus is huge in this game, and the horse nerf meant that when I was put on the back foot by a defeat, I could no longer choose my battles. Pre-nerf 1 or 2 victories against smaller enemies gave me a decent number of horses, post nerf I would probably need 6-10, which isn't happening because I wouldn't have enough horses yet to reliably get those 10-15 battles to get horses.
