Maybe some of you have heard about Iron Grip: Warlord - an amusing FPS with a twist of RTS or much rather tower defence. And all of that in a steampunk universe. Much to my appeal. Similarly to M&B they have a 'demo' version on their site for download wich can be registered to the full version. The demo alone is still playable in both singleplayer and multiplayer, only restricted to one map. The multiplayer servers are sadly rather empty.

Now there is Iron Grip: Lords of Atelia. You can find it here at http://iglords.isotx.com. It is a browser game in the same steampunk universe, taking place in the time after the conflict in IG: Warlord. What makes it even more fun for me - the game is in a closed beta-stage and one can be a part of its balancing. There are frequent updates and the game is playable without any sense of incompleteness. There are already several powerful aliances and quite a few independent players, struggling for greatness and power. The application for the beta follows automatically when you register for the game (you only need your e-mail). I don't suppose that will be a problem, as the developer(s) should be glad to have as much players as possible. In my case I got the confirmation e-mail several hours later. So, if anyone is looking for a cool browser game - as they say - the more the marrier. I am planning to start a roleplaying alliance there, so if anyone would be interested could send me a PM here.

Its a great game, I got accepted within the space of 2 hours xD
Lords of Atelia works together with Warlord btw, you can earn 'gold' by playing on Warlord servers for your Lords of Atelia account.
I cannot join your alliance though, I am already in the xfire alliance.

There is no such alliance as of yet, I'm still giving it a thought. I may join an existing one or try to make it alone for a while, see where I get. What is the name of your tribe if I may ask?

Is Iron Grip any good? It keeps taunting me with it's highly accessible budget price tag ...

You mean Iron Grip: Warlord? Well ... at the end of the day it's a FPS with an option to bild your defence in a RTS-style (turrets, traps, mines) and fight against waves of incoming enemy troopers or armors from your point of view. There is not very much strategy into it. The difficulty level is I suppose appropriate as I can only win on 'easy' and on 'medium' I already have my difficulties and consider myself lucky if I manage to do so. It's ment to be played in multiplayer and it definately makes more fun that way. What I particularly like about the game is its style. I like the way the maps look, the way the bots are clothed and the design of the weapons. The graphics are pretty decent, but not extravagant. I really like the atmosphere about it.

Try playing on God and you will take that back. If you don't place the turrets in the right place, you'll die.
The game is definately worth it for those 10€ (7,95 pounds).
But you'll need a teammate to have more fun.
Anyway, you can try the first map for free:

It was £6.65, and I bought it after playing the demo. The movement is horrible, the graphics are basic and I haven't had the chance for multiplayer yet, but on the whole it is indeed a ridiculous amount of fun for the price.
