Ireland won't die

I have been playing as a vassal of Scotia Maior, but Regnum Angliae conquered us very quickly after war was declared. However, Scotia Maior just won't seem to die like other factions, I'm guessing because I am part of it. Am I stuck playing as a fiefless lord of a dead faction? I know one way around this would be to take a castle or town, though this proves very difficult.

Yeah, taking a fort worked. All the Irish lords popped up and I was able to ask to be released from my oath. They have actually been hanging on against the English by themselves.
