Invisible mouse pointer

In the menus and in-game, the mouse cursor is invisible. At the same time there is a unmoving cursor on the screen.

I know there is a cursor moving with the mouse movements, because I am able to access menus and move on the map. (although it is a little bit tedious to play like this  )

This must be  a known bug, is there a fix out there? Tried searching the boards and google, but didn't get any results.

Using the latest version (steam) on windows 7 64 bit. All drivers are updated.

Thank you

Hi, I had this problem using the MX518 logitech mouse. When I bought the mouse last Christmass the drivers on their site did not say Windows 7 compatable, but seemed to work OK, (I have Windows 7 x64 installed), but when this problem appeared in Warband, I looked again and they now have Windows 7 drivers, and since installing them, the problem has not reapeared.
Hope this helps.

Downloaded the latest intellipoint drivers. (I have a regular MS mouse) Didn't work.

I'll get my hands on a logitech mouse tomorrow.

Strange, I would have expected Microsoft drivers would be OK, are you running Windows 7?

Yep Windows 7. I'm surprised too, I play a lot of different games, some old, some new, but I haven't seen this happen before.

Tried with a new microsoft explorer mouse, didnt work. Getting a  logitech one seems more hassle than it's worth.

It's just strange, because the game obviously reads the mouse input, but still the cursor doesn't move.

Guess I'll have to wait for a patch...

Anyways, thanks for the advice Yozzer!

Yes, I am sure it will be fixed, it is the only game I had the problem with. I found that even when I went back into windows the mouse continued to behave the same until a reboot. I suspect it somehow stayed corrupted until the driver was reloaded.

I just wanted to add to this thread.

I have been experiencing the exact same issue with my mouse pointer. I installed the game last night and everything was fine save for the mouse pointer. I am running Windows 7 Professional and using a Logitech MX510 mouse. I can tell the mouse is working ... I can navigate the screens (blindly) and the options highlight as I move the mouse around, but no cursor at all.

What I wanted to add though is that this problem completely goes away in Windowed mode. The mouse pointer works perfectly without issue. Then I go back into fullscreen and it's invisible again.

Kinda lost on what the cause is. There are no updated drivers for my mouse; the Logitech website just tells me that the mouse doesn't need them because it uses the native driver for the O/S.

Just had a look Leo, and as you say it does not list a Windows 7 driver for your mouse, it was running it in MS native mode that "caused" the problem, though it is still likely will be a bit of incompatability specific to WB. Perhaps you could try the driver for the MX518 to see if it works! Native mode is just a MS generic driver.

I have the exact same problem. I'm running windows 7 64bit and using MS's wireless keyboard & mouse 7000. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated.

Today I went out and picked up a new gaming mouse. It's a Logitech G500. I installed the latest SetPoint drivers updated for x64 Windows 7 (which is what I am using for my O/S).

I also just finished updating the game engine for today's patch thinking that might help.

I detactived a setting in SetPoint that said "use native O/S drivers for acceleration and point speed".

When I launched the game, I had the same result. The mouse is working, but there is no pointer visible. But again, when I start in windowed mode the problem goes away. Back into fullscreen, the problem is back. I am thinking that means something.

But everyone who reported an issue was running 64 bit so perhaps that is it.

Anyways, still no dice.

I'd like to report the same problem win 7 x64. Got a logitech mouse on native drivers. I've even uninstalled and reloaded them. Windowed mode works fine. Cursor stuck in default starting position, but the mouse position (in the program) is correct, just not in display. So in the mean time I'll be running windowed.

I really dont want to play in windowed mode but nobody seems to be able to come up with a fix. Hopefully a future version update will fix this issue.

I don't like playing in windowed mode either, but at least it lets us play the game.

In the meantime I will be looking around the web for solutions because I did notice disappearing mouse pointer issues reported in other applications running Windows 7 x64 when I Google the terms.

Anyways, crossing my fingers that the development team for Warband is aware of it.

This post could be a bit premature, but perhaps those with the problem could check.

I posted before in this thread saying I had not had a problem since I installed Logitech Windows 7 drivers for my MX518. Well tonight I put my desktop back to large icons and text under personalyze, and a couple of hours later my mouse pointer dissapeared in Warband, (I have had no problem for several week now).
It never did happen all the time for me, perhaps once a night, so if any of you with Windows 7 X64 using large text and icons selected try going back to normal on the desktop and see what happens!

Yozzer you are a genius.

That worked! Having my desktop set to large icons and fonts was the culprit.

I never even thought of that for a solution. I am able to play in full screen with no issues after restoring the display setting to the default sizes.

I highly recommend the others try this solution.

Edit: Looks like I need to return my expensive new mouse to the store ... !!

You are awesome, that was the problem... now in order to play M&B I have to log out of windows, but atleast its not in windowed mode.
