Invisible Heraldic Armor and Shields (Diplomacy mod)

Shortly after installing Diplomacy and loading into my native save, I noticed most of the Rhodok's had see-through torsos - only the chain on the arms was there. Fronts of shields are see-through as well, but the backs are the right texture. I've done what research I can from other people who've gone through similar situations, and none of the solutions have done me any good. (Turning off pixel shaders, running the game on Directx7, uninstalling and reinstalling the mod multiple times, etc.) The only thing I can think of that I haven't been able to try/fix is something someone said on another forum, along the lines of "item init trigger is not firing, which results in the item using it's base material (instead of overriding it with a tableau)" but I've had no luck fixing said trigger issue. Ideas would definitely be appreciated - I would love to keep on with this mod.

In my screwing around trying to get my save functional, I ended up uninstalling Diplomacy and Warband both, then after reinstalling the mod I launched the game and started up a new save without transferring anything from the native file to the Diplomacy file. All heraldic armor and shields were completely fine - so it must have something to do with either the factions.txt, scenes.txt, item_kinds1.txt or troops.txt that gets overwritten to make my save loadable. I'm unsure what to do next.
