i too found out about this game from The Underdogs and, like so many others, i'm afraid i am helplessly addicted. i paid my $12 about two weeks ago, and had intended at that time to post my thanks, but...well, you know how it goes. one more battle...one more battle...
that's what blows my mind about this game. two devs, a whopping great $12 (for me, at least, i know you early birds got an even better deal), and for that i've gotten countless hours of incredibly fun play time. slap on the fact it's only a little over 60% done and you have one puzzled gamer. puzzled as to why i shell out $30+ for full and complete games i play a few days and get tired of. the good things keep on coming, too. the detail in the battlefield terrain (as well as the strategic value of such) ensures i do not get tired of it, even though for all i know it could be the same two places every time. the detail in the map, the caravans taking goods back and forth, the bounty hunters searching for prey, all makes the world that much more believable and involving. and i could go on and on.
to sum up, it reminds me of all the best parts of many of my favorite games (though mostly the microprose classic 'darklands' and origin's damn-fine-game 'privateer'), as well as boasting some highly original content, such as the best mounted combat (and hell, combat in general) i've ever seen. thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, for showing the world what indie developers can do with time, talent, and most of all, love, which i'm afraid a lot of games these days sorely lack.
for the sakes of we underdog lovers, keep it up, and we will keep spreading the word.
