Introduction/Hello thread

Hello everybody. I'm an 18-year-old Chinese, a would-be university student and a natural sciences maniac (esp. biology). Came across M&B on a Chinese DND site, had some problems finding the actual English name because they just made up a Chinese name ^-^ . I have been playing new characters up to lv6 over&over again, and I will definitely buy the license.
You will need to let more people know about this amazing game. I'm sure everyone here has been doing this, but that doesn't seem enough.

Hola mi amigos. I played this game for all of 20 minutes before I decided to buy it. I can't wait to see the finished product, but in my mind the current beta is worth a few bucks.

I am 37 and I live on Lake Ontario in upstate NY, USA.
I know my oldest son is going to love this one too. I called him from work and told him about the game, so he is waiting patiently for me to get home and show it to him.

I run a little website of my own that attracts a modest amount of visitors, so I am going to make sure to point people to this game.

Thanks!

I found this game a few weeks ago, via a post by a member on another board.

I played my character to level 6, and only stopped long enough to purchase the license.

This game is a work of art. Keep up the superlative work!

Hello all. I play a lot of games and, quite franclly, I almost never buy a game (please, dont call the cops on me!). But yesterday, Ive bought "Mount & Blade", even though is unfinnished. I wanst going to buy it, I was going to wait for the full version. But when my character reached level 6, I was already so addicted to it that I simply HAD to buy it.

"Mount & Blade" is one of the best games Ive played in the past years. The combat system is amazing, something like Ive never seen before (probably the best medieval combat system ever). Its realistic enough, demands skill and strategy and its always fun and interesting. I can spend hours just figthing in the arena and it never gets boring or repetitive. The graphics are ok enough for me (and they work fine on my low-end PC) and even the background music is good. And there is still trading, world exploring and a good character build system.

When I read that the game is the work of only 2 people, I just couldnt believe it. Its so well-done in every aspect, so well-thought, original and plain simply fun, that it puts most similar (medieval themed real-time RPGs) comercial games into shame.

Armagan and Ipek, your game is really something. Im feel both gratefull and jealous towards you guys. Gratefull to have such a great game to play, jealous becouse I want to make game too, and I dont know if Im ever going to be able to make a game so good has this one.

I wish the final version comes soon, but dont rush things out. Call it 1.0 when its really done. While is not done, we will keep riding our horses and killing people in the unfinished versions and having tons of fun. Thank you very much and congratullations for this incredible piece of software.

yes this games does really rock but could do with some atmosphere and detail to improve upon.

I'm 21 from newcastle in the uk. i mostly play shooters but was bored one day and loaded this up and thought ah, i'll probably only be here for a few minutes. But now i can't stop playing the game. Killing and mameing people is so much fun, just like in MAB. Unfortunetly i have to wait for the retail release, which is going to be when exactly?

Yippee! bought this game two days ago! Wishing for more updates! Its so cool even with a slow computer!

Hello and heja all out there..
I´m a 26 year old male human being, born and living in Germany.
And I found this game on The-Underdogs.org - a site I strongly recommence to all of you not knowing it yet.

After some trouble concerning the credit-card matter (- solved it via a friends card , I am finnally a proud owner of an own full-version-beta..
I like this game and think it´s quite addictive.
I also like it to read on independent producers being able to create such a great game !
Thanks to all of you being active in programming or supporting this page and this great, if even just beta-game !!!

Besides killing river pirates, I also like to kick my own ass into quaterpipes and funboxes on my BMX.. So much for this time -

Cheers ´n Oi !

i too found out about this game from The Underdogs and, like so many others, i'm afraid i am helplessly addicted. i paid my $12 about two weeks ago, and had intended at that time to post my thanks, but...well, you know how it goes. one more battle...one more battle...

that's what blows my mind about this game. two devs, a whopping great $12 (for me, at least, i know you early birds got an even better deal), and for that i've gotten countless hours of incredibly fun play time. slap on the fact it's only a little over 60% done and you have one puzzled gamer. puzzled as to why i shell out $30+ for full and complete games i play a few days and get tired of. the good things keep on coming, too. the detail in the battlefield terrain (as well as the strategic value of such) ensures i do not get tired of it, even though for all i know it could be the same two places every time. the detail in the map, the caravans taking goods back and forth, the bounty hunters searching for prey, all makes the world that much more believable and involving. and i could go on and on.

to sum up, it reminds me of all the best parts of many of my favorite games (though mostly the microprose classic 'darklands' and origin's damn-fine-game 'privateer'), as well as boasting some highly original content, such as the best mounted combat (and hell, combat in general) i've ever seen. thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, for showing the world what indie developers can do with time, talent, and most of all, love, which i'm afraid a lot of games these days sorely lack.

for the sakes of we underdog lovers, keep it up, and we will keep spreading the word.

Hi!

This game rocks!

Okay, now that's out of the way. I too found the game on the-underdogs.org. I was skeptical at first, but when I actually started playing it, I couldn't believe this was made by such a small team. I was astounded by the quality of it, and I found the control layout very friendly. I love the fact that it's a skill-based combat game that doesn't rely solely on twitch reflexes -- the only twitch I've noticed is the defense scheme, but it's so simple it's really not a burden.

Anyway, I played the game unregistered literally all night long on that first night, and I paid for it on the second -- and I only waited that long because I had to, you know, go to work and stuff. And the main reason I paid so quickly is, I want to see this project go forward! Since the game is amazing now, it can only be better when it's finished, and even though I'd gladly pay $25 for the finished product, I figure my $12 now will go farther toward making sure that finished product actually happens.

I hate this game! Too damn addictive!

Like everyone else, there I was, having a normal life. Heard about M & B, downloaded it on a whim, played through the night, paid for the license the very next day.

. . . and haven't had a life since.

Thank God my latest project at work has just finished up, otherwise I'd be in real trouble.

Absolutely amazing game.

P.S. - Please keep it as non-fantastical as possible. Nothing turns me off more than wizards & potions. I'd urge you to stick strictly to realism. And if you want to make me truly happy, a range of even more historically-accurate scenarios.

P.P.S. - Just figured out about the horsemeat. Nice touch.

Hey.

I saw this game on my PC ZONE magazine, I thought it wouldn't be that good, but after installing it, and playing it, I've got addicted to it...

It needs a bit more polishing, and stuff added, but since it's still in development I guess that'll all be remedied...

I'm on the verge of buying it, I just need to finish the demo first...

Congratulations to the authors. This game has captured so many things I've ever wanted to see in a game and I've only just got to level 6 and compulsively purchased the license. I can see myself getting value for money on this one.

I've been dreaming of a 3D medieval battlefield like this since the movie Braveheart came out. The combat is exhillerating both in terms of action and strategy. Add in the other factors like non-linearity, world travel, trade and management and you've pressed just about all my nerd-buttons.

I like the fact that (so far) it's been difficult to master the economy. I would like this facet to hold throughout the game experience so that you really have to work hard to amass a fortune. Having to be constantly mindful of your capabilities is also a good touch in terms of choosing whether to fight or to flee.

Playing this game and seeing how much can be made by so few has inspired me to revisit some of my own game ideas, I could imagine this style of game working extremely well with a gladiatorial theme. Not least given the fact that the first night of playing was entirely in the arena, I was too spellbound to bother venturing outside the town gates.

I sincerely hope that the authors make a packet out of this game. I hope that encourages them to push on with the project and also with numerous future projects.

yay , the first shareware game i've ever payed for ..
even the limited version is ALOT more fun than some of the finnished large productions i've bought ..

I've heard about M&B some time ago. I thought that it was just another game made by a bunch of uni students somewhere that'll be canceled within a few months. Boy, was I wrong. I love this game. At first, the combat was so realistic that it got frustrating. After a while, I tried the tourney again and again, I got hooked. It looks and FEELS so real that I thought I was actually in a medieval trouney!! I will definitely get the licenced serial ASAP. This game is gonna rock!!

Hi there, new here!
The game's a lot of fun, planning to buy it sometime.
The mods seem interesting as well, hope to see some great ones.
The only thing I'm missing from the game is the tournaments, jousting, one-on-one fighting, and the like. It's probably going to be done in a later version and/or has been suggested numerous times anyway.
Seriously, the game's better even at this half finished state than most of that hi-poly all-graphics, no gameplay... 'products' out there.
