interupting swings

When you and an enemy are swinging weapons at each other virtually simultaneously, it creates a bit of a disconnect when one weapon stops instantaneously when that person is hit.

Would it be possible for the weapon to continue in it's arc for another, say, 1/4 swing/thrust after the interuption occurs to account for momentum??
 
I see how this would be more realistic...but i really don't like the idea. This would make fighting on foot nearly impossible, and only give even more power to mounted characters. Not to mention increasing the frustration factor 10 fold.
 
I agree with DaLagga. Could well make the game more realistic, but I think this would be at the expense of enjoyment.
 
OK,I Don't fight much on foot... And I'm certainly not suggesting no interuption at all, just a bit of a delay for those near simultaneous hits.
