And Russia

In what appears to be a calculated dig at the US, the Kremlin urged non-governmental organisations to think seriously about "nominating Assange as a Nobel Prize laureate".

"Public and non-governmental organisations should think of how to help him," the source from inside president Dmitry Medvedev's office told Russian news agencies. Speaking in Brussels, where Medvedev was attending a Russia-EU summit yesterday , the source went on: "Maybe, nominate him as a Nobel Prize laureate."

Also, Rafael Correa, President of Ecuador, suggested his country should give asylum to Assange. Furthermore, in the recent Iberoamerican summit held in my country, Ecuador, Bolivia, Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua wanted to include in the final declaration a statement condemning USA for the cables; however this didn't catch on. Of course, these governments aren't exactly buddies of USA.
A bit weird considering how targeted the Russians are, due to the whole Russian/Italian relationship.

Right, but I guess they are happy they found out? They have no reason to dislike Wikileaks; at least until now nothing has emerged that Russia doesn't want the public to now, in my opinion (at least that I remember)

Ghost in the Shell is awesome! One of few animes I actually like.

I liked the movie. The series was a bit meh. Should check it out again sometime though.

@Sarajevo: If they think it's nice that the public knows some of the weird deals they have with Italy, then sure. Putin seem quite careless in many ways.

Oh, right. That >_>.

Also, apparently Amazon was "spared". Their servers can probably take whatever Anonymous tries...

Well, Anonymous managed to send 7.5 million requests per second while DoSing the Australian Parliaments website during Operation Titstorm.

I love these names

EDIT. Oh and, no bots were used that time, unlike now.

So, what I got from the BBC article is that people are downloading the voluntary bot-net tool to help with the attacks. Either I am missing something or that sounds quite risky.

Dutch Arrest 16-Year-Old for Involvement With Pro-WikiLeaks Hacking Attack

Dutch Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of involvement with the attacks of the MasterCard and Visa websites allegedly started by a group called Anonymous, who are sympathizers of WikiLeaks, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Authorities arrested the teen in The Hague Wednesday night, saying he acknowledged being involved in the cyber war against the two credit card companies' websites, according to the Dutch prosecution office. Computers and Data-storage devices were also seized.

The teenager, who authorities did not identify, remains in custody and is set to appear before a judge on Dec. 10.

More arrests are being expected in the Netherlands regarding this case

Oh you can bet your sweet bottom there will be.

A 16 Y/O who spends most his time on the net, will be no match for when the tangible world caves in on him.

I'm sure the authorities have already made him wet his pants on occasion or two by now

 It's funny how you go from not wanting to give the government too much power to fully backing them when they censor important parts of the internet.

Oh? You'll have to point out where im "fully backing the government".

But I guess that means I won't be seeing a further post from you concerning that, since there is none such.

Yes, that's how they do it!

Yup. Theres a few "Hiveminds" controlling the bots, which allowed them to take the sites down so quickly.

Also, thats some douchebaggery right there, arresting a kid who, apparently, downloaded the bot.

Does that mean that you can for an example get arrested if you got a virus on your computer and spread the virus? Not like if you actually did create it in order to spread it.

Can it be proven if you downloaded it voluntarilly or if you where tricked?

Also, does the justice department\general public\media even understand what's going on? On one news source I saw people expressing fears that with the internet soon we'll have random hackers launching military nuclear weapons just for the fun of it. People who reason like that don't see a 16 year old kidd who may or may not have voluntarilly downloaded the botnet thing, they see a potential monster that can ruin the world.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Justice department makes this boy into an example

Its only avaiable for download, it doesnt spread by infection. So yes, he did it on purpose.
