Internet Problems

So recently, after my internet has been running a while it's speed drops incredibly. Whenever that happens, I'll go unplug the cable-to-ethernet modem and the wifi router we use then plug 'em back in and it goes back to it's normal speedy self for a while until the speed drops again eventually. Do you think it's the router or the modem doing this?

Probably the router, but it could just as easily be the modem. Next time it happens just reset the router and you'll know.

Also, what activities are you doing when the speed starts to drop?

Well, realized that it only (and always) happens when my laptop turns off or goes into sleep mode which leads me to believe it's the router. No idea why it's doing it or what I can do to fix it though.

Stop your laptop from going into sleep mode, or hibernating whenever you close it, then.
