Okay, no problem. but i should say that almohad names are replacables by english ones .
indeed they are.
I don't really see your point here Cruger... if there are some mispelling in the arabic words, why not change them?

Who said I wasn't going to change them? I just said I'd like to keep names in English.

Btw, can there be some kind of a "patch" where units (and lord's titles etc) would use native names? Considering, of course, if there's enough research for all of them...

One of the problems with Arabic names translated into English is that there is no direct analog for a lot of characters, so 'correct' spellings are hard to nail down.  Just look at Libya: there are more ways to spell Gadaffi than there have been years since he took over the country.  He himself has used several different spellings over the years.  So don't sweat the spellings on the Arabic names too much.

sorry but i have to disagree with you. if you look to almohad troop tree, you will see some units like rumat (archer) taballa (drummer) mushud (i have never heard of this one, but i think they meant hushud who means conscript) abid (slaves)... so...

I took the names from Osprey books, mainly. I think "The Islamic West" was my best source. I don't have many sources about Islamic Spanish warfare.

I'm inclined to believe Osprey unless someone provides proof against that.

Yeah i know, i've read the moors: the islamic west. all i'm trying to say is that those names are grammatically false. for example you use the same name for the singular and the plural of a unit.

This can be solved easily if you're willing to help

Hey Cruger,

I just noticed that the dialog for knights and the map:
tournamentcircuits.jpg
Don't match with the descriptions in the faction info in the first post.  Did you change the circuits from French/English and Occitan to French/Occitan and English?  If so you need to fix the dialog when you ask a knight about the circuits.  Additionally, there is only one Occitan house (Foix) represented in the French circuit.  The list of renown requirements needs to be updated too.

I also noticed that you changed the troop trees to fix the duplicates, but there are still two 'horsemen' in the Toulouse trees.  One in the militia tree and one in the village tree.

We couldn't really make the Occitan before circuit since we lacked the Lombard League.

So the circuits will be changed with the addition of the Lombard League?  Or is there going to be a separate English circuit permanently?

Also:  Did you see my idea regarding way the payouts for the circuit tourneys are handled?

Hey Cruger,

I just noticed that there aren't any troop trees for some of the French troops.  Breton and Burgundian troops (both militia and rural) aren't listed at all.

I have been thinking about the best way to organize the troop trees, and since the only faction-specific troops are the noble and sergeant trees.  It would probably be cleaner to separate the troop trees into two lists; faction specific for the castle troops and ethnic/regional for the villages/towns.

But they are already separated like this. Urban militians and commoners depend on the settlement, while professional and noble depend on the faction.

Right,

I was referring to their descriptions at the beginning of this thread, where all the troop trees are listed under their associated factions, and perhaps they should be listed separately (one list for factions, one for ethnic/regional groups) for clarity's sake.  People do look here for info while playing.

Militia and Peasant troops are not inherently affiliated with factions except by starting location.  Kings came and went, and the peasants didn't care so much who they paid their tithe to, nor did the land holders much care who was paying the tithe.  In the game also, it is very possible for a french lord to rule over an Occitan village or city, or for the English to rule villages of Welshmen, etc.  So why not have a separate list for these settlements that are

Just a minor issue really, just something that came to me when I realized there were no trees for the Burgundian or Breton troops.

I noticed that the Swedish and Norwegian serf line doesn't go past Freemen to Horsemen.  The Danish line does, so I'm perplexed, as I want to work for Sweden as my primary faction.  In this thread it says they all are capable of becoming Horsemen but in game this does not turn out to be the case.

Dear devs,
with search I didn't get any info on what are the plans with Hungary? Do you have anything to share (I mean plans ), or do you need some help with research?

I suppose you're Hungarian. Well, Lord Szengyorgiy already researched Hungary for us, and in a very exhaustive way, so don't worry, I'll make sure Hungary gets the attention it deserves

Szentgyörgyi is a cool fellow, who does good research, and I am happy to hear that he was involved

Until I wait for Hungary, I think I will kick some b.tt as an occitan lord. I really like the direction this mod is going, an occitan, irish or aragonese faction is really refreshing in the world where nothing seems to be interesting for game developers except for hundred years war, cololinals rebellion against Britain or viking invasion of britain
