Infantry mod

Just curious, I've looked around a bit, and i've been trolling the M&B forums a long while... even took a crack at a few mods of my own.. (Barfight mod) but I haven't seen anyone do a mod that actually made infantry the primary force.
If i'm not mistaken, in most time periods, perhaps 1-2% of the combatants fought from horseback.. the rest were grunts.  But it seems like in most mods, 50% of the forces are cavalry.. strong enough to plow through the enemy's ranks and scatter them in a single pass.

Has anyone made a mod where it is common to see masses of infantry fighting head to head, without a dozen chargers plowing through the lines every few seconds?

Perhaps a mod where there are no horses at all even.. or they are weak enough that a single swordslash to a foreleg or arrow in the ribs will down a horse and force the rider to the ground.. or even just make NPC parties always spawn with 95% infantry, and make cavalry troops extremely expensive, so that the player can't afford many..

just curious.. if not, i'll have to wait till i have the patience to relearn the latest mod system and upgrade the old mod i was working on.. and actually add some gameplay to it..

I've noticed that too, they should make a mod with just infantry, good idea

There is indeed a mod like that.Just a little search and you wil see.

Amazing Horseless mod.

first linked mod comes with no info.. so i'm suspecting they just took out horses from Native.. meaning a lot of knights running around on foot with lances.. and other sillyness and imbalance..  but i could be wrong.. there is no info on it..
second link, if you read through, has a few people complaining that there are still a good number of horses in the enemy parties.. so thats a no-go too..

also, would be nice to have one in the latest version.. and actually be its own mod, rather than a slightly tweaked Native, with its own balanced armies..

Make a pre-columbian native american mod!
Make it take place like....with the west coast Tlingit people, that oughta be a interesting not-much-known-about area.
No horses, all close range combat and guerrilla warfare, with a few bows thrown in.

yeah, tough to do when nobody here knows anything about them..
was thinking less history-based and more designed for gameplay..
take a bunch of different themes from various cultures in history and throw them onto an island.. just make sure none were known for heavy cavalry..  maybe a few NPC leaders who are heavily armored knight types.. and maybe some light unarmored cavalry (the kind that rears when it hits an infantryman, then gets ripped apart)..
but mostly just grunts, with a bit of support from skirmisher types...

Historically the infantry in the open ground only defeated the heavy cavalry when they toke pikes and formed closed formations (defensive square, phalanx formations, etc) using ranged weps (protected behind or within its lines) to hit the enemy. thats could be a solution to balance the horse power in M&blade, the use of infantry formations armed with long weapons, with enought cohesion to stop a daring knight charging from the front (a formation has a weak flank too .

maybe setting a lower armor for most of the horses, and lower speed for high armored (with great charge power) could help.

yeah, best you can do atm is a mob holding a hilltop.. but they constantly run down the sides of the hill trying to engage a horseman who just rode by, slapped him, and rode off..
pikemen do help a bit, as they can make a horseman rear if the horse charges head-on.. but they mill around too much to be effective..  and the cavalry can often get the first strike on a pikeman...
