Indo-Armor and Vaegir "russification" mod. version 1.1

Well i decided to release the mod after all... here it is:

Ok, so i started out by just adding the open-source indo-armor pack to TEARC's Ormeli faction.
but then real life got in the way of a release and now ive done some more changes to other stuff, but if theres enough interest i could release it with those changes... until d'sparil sees fit to include the indo-armor pack in TEARC.

ok, so first off the screens:
More variety of nomad robes and steppe armor on ormeli troops:

New indo-armor lamellar for the ormeli troops and generals (these are only 3 of the 20+ new lamellar types, every general gets a unique armor):

Thought id include my new Ormeli character... hes got a bit of an evil look to him:

now that youve seen the eye-candy, its time for the other changes i made that might not be as appreciated...

first off, i changed the names of most of the vaegir troops:
Vaegir infantry is now called Vaegir Otroki
Vaegir guard is now called Vaegir Druzhina
Vaegir aristocrat cavalry is now called Vaegir Boyar Son
Vaegir cossacks are now called Vaeigir Kazak
and lastly Vaegir Strelos are called Vaegir Dvor and use Bow and arrows instead of gunpowder weapons and they are also as heavily armored as vaegir guards/Druzhina.

also, ive changed the model of one of the lamellar armors to use one of the armors from the OSP armor pack. (hence the need to install the eagle_radiant.brf file.

just unpack the .zip file in your TEARC folder overwriting everything it asks for... dont forget to backup first tho.
WARNING: THIS MOD NEEDS A NEW CAMPAIGN TO WORK!

VERSION 1.1 UP:
-added helmets and shields from the indo-armor pack (not all of them, just the ones i like... if you want all of them you'll have to do it yourself)
-hopefully fixed the problems people had with crashing...

UPDATE:
since im currently working on modifying the bows of TEARC (and mount and blade in general) to reflect more historical accuracy and damage, im not going to release any more updates of this mod, version 1.1 is the final version.
 
I say you go ahead and release it, since the armors are from the osp packs theres no harm done, and then each person can decide wheter he/she likes the other changes or not.
 
Well that would be possible, for the smaller mods. However, I think the larger ones should have their own threads, so they don't clutter up the entire board.

and you can gauge the interest before using them eh?  :razz:
 
I think those new Strelos (Dvor) might be overpowered with bow and heavy armor and the idea of starting over doesn't really sound nice, but I think the new stuff is worth it and definitely deserves to make it to D' Sparils next official version
 
well you might think theyre overpowered, but they dont seem that way when you play...

sure they have the protection, but they still use the same bows as the regular archers and they only have powerdraw 3... so theyre basically the regular archers with heavier armor and slightly higher archery skill.
i havent run any tests, but i got the feeling that the strelos were much more effective in bringing down enemies whilst the dvor have more staying power instead of stopping power...

as for starting over, you could just make a new character to test out the stuff and if you dont like it you dont have to play very long to find out.
 
I get an error something like "cannot find *name of armor*"...

I did everything the instruction sez'...
 
Yes Oddball that happened to me too. I got RGL WARNINGS for at least 4 different armors( I think).
The error occurs when I go to the armor merchant. It says for example: "Unable to find mesh armor_ca_mughaliv"
There was another armor called mashabdar(or something along those lines) and one called sultaniii and another one I can't remember.

When I installed I overwrote everything so I don't think that's the problem. In the armor merchant, after clicking away the errors I did get to see some of the armors before the game froze. They were good :grin:

hmm... that is indeed strange, that just some of the armors are missing.
did you start a new campaign or just continue an old one?
i used a completely fresh install of the indo armor pack so it should all be there.

checking the resource file, they are all there... and the spelling is correct...

waaait... i figured it out...
forgot to include the module.ini file...

you can download the mod again, to get the correct file, or you could simply add the following to your own module.ini file:

open module.ini with wordpad.
search for load_mod_resource = eagle_radiant
add this directly after:
load_mod_resource = indo_armors
load_mod_resource = indo_costumes

and then save the file.

game should work just fine then.

ps. thank you taleworlds for your daily schedualled update of the forums that prevented me from posting and gave me some time to fix it hehe
 
i will probarbly be adding the helmets and shields too soon (and some other small changes, nothing major) so look for an update (if there is interest that is hehe)

I tried to add the lines to module.ini manually but that gave me a RGL error saying "Unable to open texture file Textures/kuffiya.dds"

So I'm gonna try downloading and overwriting the new module.ini, maybe that'll work


EDIT: I tried the new module.ini and then I tried reinstalling everything but I still get the same error I mentioned above.
The loading screen is just stuck when it gets to textures and when I click away the error the game exits.

EDIT 2: Could it be that the game gets mixed up because you didn't include the helmets? I see some helmets in the Textures folder but they're obviously not being used because the helmet brf file isn't mentioned in module.ini

EDIT 3: I noticed a spelling mistake! you remember the error with kuffiya.dds? The file in the Textures map isn't called kuffiya but koffiya.
So.. if that's the only problem.. easy to fix right?
 
Hi, glad to see someone using my indo-persian armors :smile:.  You can complete the Eastern look for the Ormeli if you want by including the indo-persian shields also, that pack is also in the M&B Repository.

ok... heres the deal... i removed some of the references to missing textures and such in the .brf files, but i forgot that i had done that and used the originals for the upload.

now im gonna release a new version with the helmets and shields as well, and this one should (hopefully) not give us any trouble.

@dariel: yeah, that was my plan all along hehe... just didnt get around to doing it until last night...

@bunduqdari: strange about that koffiya thing... dont have that error... maby thats one of the files i removed from the .brf then?
