Thanks. It is good to have as much as 1.5.4 samples from different users. We will make new tests when 1.5.6 comes and see differences all together. Your results are similar to @Apocal's results. 2 factions have about 60 fiefs and 1 faction is eliminated and 2 are nearly eliminated remained with 1 castle or 1 town.
I'm curious to what changed to make the fact that Vlandia is not the powerhouse it used to be. Before for me it was always Khuzait and Vlandia who controlled 1/3 of the map
if he isn't.. he clearly should be the one who is in charge
------ @Blood Gryphon how do you run these 20 year tests? I'm empty this weekend I think I can try 2-3 20 year tests

skip tutorial, pause the game, open up the cheat console (alt ~)
activate cheats with "console.cheat mode 1"
set the campaign speed with "campaign.multiply_campaign_speed 10"
make your party unattackable with "campaign.set_main_party_attackable 0"
then let it fly with "campaign.move_time_forward 40320" which is essentially a timer to 20 years later and go do something else for awhile as it will take over an hour

There are a few ways:
Under Taleworlds.CampaignSystem.CharacterObject class, SetCulturalFeats, go and set KhuzaitCavalryAgility to 0. I only tested this on a new playthrough.
The other two methods I didn't test:
Under TaleWorlds.CampaignSystem.DefaultFeats, under InitializeAll setting the KhuzaitCavalryAgility factor to 0 probably works.
Directly messing with the GetCavalryRatioModifier formula to cut out the KhuzaitCavalryAgility bonus.
I'm not certain about the factor, but I'm 100% that messing with the formula does, it is just trickier to get right if you're not good with understanding code.

So, I mess around with this game a lot,and I decided to test out what happens if I increase the influence cost of armies. Via dnSpy:
It worked, so I gave it three test runs out to exactly 20 years (using the "campaign.move_time_forward 40320" command; twenty years on the dot) and checked the results by way of counting settlements (two points per town, one per castle):

It turns out it works to help some of the snowballing, although I still got unrecoverable or dead factions. But on the plus side, the largest faction was never more powerful than the next two largest combined, which was what typically happened by year 1100 in a playthrough.
Going through my save of the third test (the only one I have since I was unaware how autosaving worked across multiple characters (it doesn't)) I checked on the armies to see what they looked like:
Fairly small, especially for twenty years of game time, when clans have plenty of influence and loads of influence-generating policies and buildings up and running. But still reasonably capable of sieging down a serious settlement in a few cases. But mostly modest armies that basically are good at defense and not much else. Because throwing less than 600 dudes against a settlement with level III walls is like throwing a watermelon at a tree.
So yeah, unless I ****ed something else up, I think this might be a reasonable band-aid for snowballing, keeping in mind it took twenty years of game time to play out.
NICE ONE.I love when people actualy play and try to help out instead of just not playing the game and constantly bitc*ing about it and memeing and not helping.
Also would like to additionaly add on snowballing matter one of THE BIG reasons (in my opinion) why there is EXTREME snowballing in Bannerlord unlike in Warband is due to in Warband there was:
1)Time period of war/peace time that ranged around 15-20 or so days.
2)Feasts that lasted 3 days (wich only needed some small tweeking, more deep, and made not random event but made sure it was held at specific times).
3)There wasnt instant giving castle/town votes intsantly like you are playing magic card game or something BUT there was a time period of several days especialy more if there was still war going on and usualy after the feast was done or durign the feast the person would be voted/selected.
4)There was period of time where there would be voting for marshal and even additional feast was sometimes held (this also wasnt needed huge chages but just some tweeks and more depth to it with more additions).
5)The marriage sequence with addition of having quest to prepare for a feast you needed to go and gather suppplies needed for the marriage feast/feast in general.
6)You needed time to woo/flirt with a chosen female character and that took some time.
ALL OF THE MENTIONED WAS WHY THERE WAS NO EXTREME SNOWBALLING EFFECT IN WARBAND BCS ALL OF THESE SYSTEMS IN PLACE THAT AI ALSO USED MADE SURE THAT THERE WAS NO SNOWBALING OR IF THERE WAS IT WAS NOT AS EXTREME AS IN BANNERLORD BCS OTHER AI ENEMIES WILL HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO PROPERLY PREPARE,GET UP ON THEIR FEET,ORGANIZE A BIT AND THEN GET MARSHAL AND GO TO WAR.AND IN BANNERLORD ALL THOSE STUFF THAT WERE SORTA BALLANCING THE SNOWBALING ARE NON EXISTANT AND MANY STUFF ARE LIKE MAGIC YOU INSATNTLY GET TO VOTE AS SOON AS CASTLE WAS TAKEN,YOU GET INSTANT MESSAGE WHEN SOMETHING IS SIEGED,RAIDED EVERYTHING IS INSTANT LIKE WE ARE PLAYING SOME KIND OF DRAGON BALL Z GAME AND HAVING LIKE MIND READING/INSTINCT,TELEPORTATION THAT WE ISNTATNTLY KNOW WHATS GOING ON ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD HECKE EVEN NOSTRADAMUS NEEDED TIME TO WRITE AND VISUALIZE STUFF.THATS THE MAIN REASON THERE IS SNOWBALLING ALL THEY NEEDED TO DO IS INTRODUCE ALL THOSE SYSTEMS BACK AND JUST DO TWEEKING,MAKING IT MORE IN DEPTH WITH SOME ADDITIONS AND THAT WAS ABOUT IT BUT THEY DECIDED TO COMPLEATLY NOT ADD THAT AND NOW THEY ARE CONSTANTLY WASTING TIME AND TWEEKING UNITS AND GEAR AND STUFF ALL THE TIME INSTED IF THEY JUST RETURNED ALL THE OLD SYSTEMS FROM WARBAND AND JUST BUILD ON IT AN TWEEKED IT THE SNOWBALLING PROBLEM WOULD BE ATLEAST AT MINIMUM.Not giving back feasts, marshal selection, time to get the gurl with tasks/quests that those systems gave was the WORST DECISION TW DEV TEAM MADE (IN MY NON HUMBLE OPPINION).

Yeah no the main reason warband factions lived longer was due to how troop recruiting worked and that they would stick thousands of soldiers on the last 2 cities and with lords constantly being exiled or defecting they could stick up a few hundred and nobody but the player would take since AI marshals never gathered enough men or just didn't attack for whatever reason.
If you increase cost of forming armies it is normal snowballing happens less because ai form armies up to x influence cost. Means that AI do not increase influence amount they will use according to influence formula. Assume they are spending 100 influence for forming armies if they have 300-400 influence, similarly they spend 200 if they have 700-900, they spend 300 if they have 1000-1500, and max 400. Formula is something like this. Not exactly but similar. So if you increase influence cost 2x they will form armies including 3-4 parties in average not 6-7 like now. This will slow down snowballing because game will have smaller armies, so they usually will not be as strong as to make successfull sieges so armies will start making more raids or visiting settlements or patrolling. Similarly if you make militias 2x snowballing will be less too like making 2x influence cost, armies will not make siege again.
Fix of snowballing should not be like this. I know currently in 20 years two factions (usually battania and khuzait) are having 50-60 fiefs (towns counted 2) and 2-3-4 factions (usually ne, se, sturgia) are eliminated or left with 1-2 towns but this will be fixed soon, I will open a post at friday about developments to fix this snowballing problem.
At first months of Early Access snowballing was biggest problem (in first 10 years 1-2-3 factions was eliminated) it become better with war peace developments at 1.5.1 next developments (will be at 1.5.6) will solve problem nearly completely.
In addition, nice work @Apocal. When you first messaged me about this I could not think of reason and warn you sorry for this.

All of the mentioned above was one of the reason why there wasnt EXTREME SNOWBALLING EFFECT in Warband bcs all of these systems/features in place that Ai also used made sure that THERE WAS NO SNOWBALING or if there was IT WAS NOT AS EXTREME AS IN BANNERLORD bcs other AI enemies will have enough time to properly prepare, get up on their feet (thsi can also be contributed to non sensical instant spawns of troops out of thin air),organize a bit,get a marsha adn go to warl.In BANNERLORD ALL THOSE STUFF THAT WERE SORTA BALANCING/KEEPING IN CHECK THE SNOWBALING ARE NON EXISTANT and many stuff are like magic. You INSTANTLY get to vote as soon as castle was taken, you get INSTANT message when something is sieged, raided EVERYTHING IS INSTANT like we are playing kind of DRAGON BALL Z GAME AND HAVING LIKE MIND READING/INSTINCT,TELEPORTATION THAT WE ISNTATNTLY KNOW WHATS GOING ON ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD hecke even Nostradamus needed time to write and visualize stuff.Thats one of the MAIN REASONW (in my opinion) WHY THERE IS SNOWBALLING.All that was NEEDED to be done was introduce all thsoe systems/features back and do tweeking, making it MORE IN DEPTH WITH SOME ADDITIONS AND THAT WAS ABOUT IT.Sadly TW team decided to COMPLEATLY NOT ADD THAT and now you are constantly sorta WASTING TIME and have constant TWEEKING of units, gear, skills, clans, factions ALL THE TIME trying to BATTLE the SNOWBALLING instead of returning all mentioned above old systems/features from warband and just build on it and tweekingit. In my UNEDUCATED opinion THE SNOWBALLING PROBLEM would atleast be at the minimum.

Also lords did not visit ladies just the player neither did they spend time to vote they would still be conquering moving around and at some point the king would give it to someone and the game would go on
Also lords did not visit ladies just the player neither did they spend time to vote they would still be conquering moving around and at some point the king would give it to someone and the game would go on
I know that they didnt exactly go tovisit a lady but they had text saying that to sorta imerse/emulate like they were thats why i said they shouldnt just remove it but make tweeks, add stuff, fix things that were known.Meaning by tweeking, fixing, adding they couldve make that AI vassals/lords realy would go to visit a lady and that Ai would actualy go to places like a player would.
I know that Lords AI didnt vote BUT there were feasts to sorta imerse/emulate that (if the system made vote during that time) and also the voting didnt happen INSTANTLY but atleast some amount of time passed by before the decision/notification/report was given same with other stuff.
That time passage thing from Warband should be returned and then in Bannerlord actualy make it work and not just being immersion text/popup text. Then also the outposts/watchtower building stuff in the villages gave you a notification of your village being raided much quicker wich added immersion and some reality to the game unlike in Bannerlord where almost everything feels like its some kind of magical telepathy where you know everyting about anyone INSTANTLY without needing any exploration, any time of adventure to make you go and seek and learn things from taverns or lords everything is instant from getting the castle to knowing that village was raided.Bannerlord for me personlay feels like all the systems are irrelevant and just a place holder and the only thing that is a focus is the battle and nothing else with the addition of like trying to make a game finish in less than 8 hours or so.What Warband gave is even tou it had problems it still gave out a huge sense of acomplishment and also more immersive and bit more realistic to me and Bannerlord is like here i give you all these placeholders and better visual representation of those placeholders just go and as quicly as possible muster large armies to see how the engine manages to give enourmeous battles and go get a quick 10-15 min siege that then due to how its easy and quick to do with an instant decision pop up where you chose who gets the castle makes you not even care about the place itself and its like oh whatever if its taken its taken i will easly get that place back.Thou some of that was also in Warband atleast while sieging you took good amount of time to get that castle and actualy to some degree made you pay attention to it and defend it ESPECIALY due to castle vote not being instant thing alongside it how hard was to make money and investment was huge so you needed to make sure you manage those things properly where in bannerlord everything is instant and you can litteraly in like first 4-5 hours of gameplay alredy get to 100k Denars even without using exploits, you get instantly reported on everyone and everything right from the get go,you right from the get go alredy have your own house crest/flag no matter of your status, you can ealsy ammas the influence and call anyone under the sun like you are king itself and not some low born mercenary while in Warband to some degree your status played a part alongside relationship with the lords sorta determened if someone will follow your lead or if you will be voted as marshal and so on yes that system had problems and wasnt fully working but still it was way way better in my opinion than not having it at all, tahst atleast how i feel about it.

Yeah no voting instantly happened ot was just that the AI was much slower and would most likely go against their own vote and give it to themselves also watchtowers gave you the message instantly too as soon is it started being raided without them it would only be after the raid was completed and you got the answer instantly from lords too in taverns you only bought mercs and mabye increase your relation and the player was almost never chosen as marshal warband in terms of money is even easier grind out 3 tournaments raid 2 villages get the iron workshop at curaw get a castle buy more random workshops that make you nothing make 50k a week in around 5 to 8 hours tou could do this
