Incorrect serial?

Ok, so I bought the game on steam, but i kept on getting a crash with the game so i downloaded the TW version and uninstalled the steam version and planned to just put in the serial form the steam version, however when i installed the TW version it never asked for a serial at any point. I can play SP normally but if I try to play MP it says incorrect serial but it never asked for a serial so idk what to do.

That should mean you are playing the demo version, although I'm not sure why it didn't ask for a CD Key/Serial when you started the game up.

It'd tell you if it was in trial mode. Check the registry and see if the key is entered there. Oh, make sure it's the right serial from Steam too.

Thats the thing, i never had to put in a serial for the TW version.I dont know how to check the registry.

Open your run window (Start -> run on WinXP), type regedit and hit enter. It should open the registry editor. Than you just have to look for the Warband registry entries. I don't know exactly where they are (and I don't have the Steam version so my set up might be irrelevant) but chances are they are somewhere in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software folder. Have fun searching for the serial number entry . When you find it edit it by hand. It should work. I'm sorry I can't look deeper but I'm writing from the office and there's no Warband on this computer so I can't search the keys for you now.

Ok i found that but not all the sudden, the option to view CD key is gone from the steam icon.

Ok, I reinstalled the steam version and looked at the registry again and apparently i didnt have a serial key registration before, it only appeard after I installed the steam version again...that is weird.

Yeah when I uninstall the steam version it takes the seiral key away but not the activation code or hardware hash, whatever that does.

Is there a way that i could use the TW version W/O the steam version installed with the serial key?

if i uninstalled both versions of the game and deleted all the warband registries would that do it?

Copy the serial, uninstall Steam, then go back into the registry and re-enter the serial.
