Sergeant Knight
so i have an induction for the Royal navy on the 13th and i was wondering if anyone else who has been in the military had any training tips?

Ive been running for 2 miles every day cycling for around 10 miles and practicing chin ups and working on general upper body strength.

I know some of you have already been out and served your country, what were your experiences?

I am aiming to go for mine clearance diving which is a million miles away from my current job anyone else done navy diving?

(bring on the navy bum rape jokes)

I have never been in the Navy but my uncle says not to serve on a sub if you can help it, the people they put in charge of them tend to be Prickish.

He also says shooting a Navy Seal in the nipples with a paint ball gun is actually a very good way to get hurt.

I most certainly wont be shooting a seal as Im english and will be aiding Marines

i looked at doing communications on a sub but really did not like the idea of being stuck that far under water for months on end.

I removed the ones that obviously didn't apply :>

1. Pillage, then burn.
2. A Sergeant in motion outranks a Lieutenant who doesn't know what's going on.
3. An ordnance technician at a dead run outranks everybody.
4. Close air support covereth a multitude of sins.
5. Close air support and friendly fire should be easier to tell apart.
6. If violence wasn’t your last resort, you failed to resort to enough of it.
8. Mockery and derision have their place. Usually, it's on the far side of the airlock.
9. Never turn your back on an enemy.
10. Sometimes the only way out is through. . . through the hull.
11. Everything is air-droppable at least once.
12. A soft answer turneth away wrath. Once wrath is looking the other way, shoot it in the head.
13. Do unto others.
15. Only you can prevent friendly fire.
16. Your name is in the mouth of others: be sure it has teeth.
27. Don't be afraid to be the first to resort to violence.
29. The enemy of my enemy is my enemy's enemy. No more. No less.
30. A little trust goes a long way. The less you use, the further you'll go.
31. Only cheaters prosper.
34. If you’re leaving scorch-marks, you need a bigger gun.
35. That which does not kill you has made a tactical error.
36. When the going gets tough, the tough call for close air support.
37. There is no 'overkill.' There is only 'open fire' and 'I need to reload.'

My only naaavy.

Sorry, can't help much with the navy part, but I can help with rhyming sing-along.

Edit : There. happy ya twat? Had to rain on my engrish parade you.

Woo RN! I'm in the RNR myself  How did you manage to get an induction for full time? I heard there was like a 3 year waiting list or something.

Royal Navy? Isn't that half French these days anyway? I think it might be time for a name change. Maybe the "Royale with Cheese Navy"?

I've heard they were a common occurrence on those subs.  Once you go down, you never go back.

The Induction is just to talk to an advisor about the Mine Clearance Diving position I'm going for and to finish my application.

I'm nowhere near doing the recruit tests or fitness tests yet.

Yeah i heard the waiting list was long but that depends on the position your going for as well.

yeah Burgass is correct, i would be on a minehunter ship and the job isn't limited to just mine clearance.

the job encompasses ship propeller maintenance and hull repairs etc etc..
