Improving village prosperity

Is there any other way besides building the mill, etc?

I've done a few quests for the elder but they didn't seem to do a whole lot.

Doing quests, building a mill are the basics really.

You need to patrol around your villages from time to time, and making sure your villagers make it to cities with out being killed by bandits. The more successful runs they make gradually increases prosperity. A high relationship speeds the process up as well.

It takes time working your village up. Build watch towers before a mill, so you can hear about local enemies and protect it from being raided. If it is raided your prosperity goes down a lot.

Don't try and overachieve. Obviously, you can't protect your villagers from bandits everytime. But when you happen to pass by the village in a quest or conquest, or collecting taxes its not a bad idea to do a little patrolling.

Doing quests will help prosperity, but you'll need to keep doing them to have a real impact. I own Ayyike (Vaegir Village) in my current game, and it started off Very Poor. After completing the Grain quest twice, Cattle quest twice, and Training quest once, it's up to Poor now.

I'm not sure whether buying things from the village help its prosperity or not, but I have bought food, fur, and iron from mine.
