Improving relations with a Knighthood Order

I currently have every prerequisite I need to open up the Knights of the Dawn. However, when I talk to the knight who is guarding the keep in my town, he says only to makes amends. How do I view my Knighthood relations, and how do I improve them... "legal" or otherwise?

I know there are probably other threads exactly like this, but search didn't turn anything up and neither did an hour and a half of manual searching.

What you need to do is laboriously locate Knights of the Dawn patrols and help them in fights, to slowly and painstakingly get them to positive relations. It's even worse for Knights of the Eventide.

You can also raise relations through Heartbeat quests at your fiefs (I think the one about heretics), certain options result in positive relation gain, so just save scum until you hit the right option.

Very cool.

Now, I own Valonbray, and have 24 noble recruits. When I talk to my war dude (lol), there is no option for training Noble Recruits.

However, on my character report, it says I have 24 nobles. What's the problem, now?

I have the Knights of the Dawn, but cannot train my nobles, or any knights, at all.

Do you have a training ground built in Valonbray? You need it to recruit Nobles.
