You'll probably have to look up/keep an eye on SMF plugins which'd implement it (and link if/when something appropriate pops up). I'd hope Janus (or other key figures) wouldn't need to waste their time on such support. While extremely simple on the surface, it might get more twists and turns to make sure it cannot be abused in any way.

WebM is a cool new format, certainly, though widespread browser and platform support is still not quite there yet (getting close). And as mentioned, it is indeed a full video format with audio support, it's just becoming fairly commonly used with no audio on some sites as a royalty-free and better compression rate replacement for animated GIFs.

I will be considering how (and indeed whether) to add support for posting them along with other HTML5 video formats here on the forum. No promises, though.
Any update?
Not so far. I will check back into it soonish.

You're right - spent a few minutes googling it and apparently there doesn't exist any SMF plugin that would reliably do it. All I could find were nasty looking hackjobs.

Thanks, I don't know much about PhBB or whatever it is that SMF works on so my search might have been fubar anyway.

It has basically replaced gifs, and often vines are turned to webm's,
so they are all over those time wasting sites with funny stuff.

Not to forget that it is a proper video format, many smaller video services (like youtube) offer their videos as webm.
