I'm genuinely livid about the way the gave us the "old" UI back

It's the same thing as the new one but looks different. It legitimately appears as though whoever is making the changes for the Ui either doesn't understand why the new Ui was bad, or is just doing this to spite people for not liking the new one. In the event that that don't know why these changes are bad i will explain.

I don't care about the muscle memory being changed or the aesthetic or anything else, the problem is everything on the f3 key. The smaller problems are everything on the f3 key you now have to go through and extra button press to get to, as well as not being able to see which units are on hold fire without opening up f3. But the real problem is what they did to face direction. Instead of being able to separately tell units to face direction or face enemy, they are now merged into one key. The problem with this is if you want to tell someone to face a direction and then tell them to face another direction, you have to tell them to face enemy first and then tell them to face direction which adds way more button presses than is necessary. This also has the added effect of taking away the flags which showed you where your men would be standing before you gave the order which makes it harder to line people up without having them intersect with other lines.

The only justification for any of this would be to add more commands on the now freed up f4+ keys but as far as I have heard this was all for the console release. Therefore forcing pc players to deal with an objectively worse UI than they had previously is completely unjustifiable and it genuinely makes me mad that this has even happened. Like I said at the top this is whoever made the new UI getting back at people or they just don't have an understanding of why the new was bad. The UI we got back it literally the same as the new one in every way other than aesthetic.

It was also to avoid the "looking around and set 'Hold Fire'" (Alt-F4) problem that kept coming up.

The thing is that cause of how fast and easy battles are i would never even try to use this so i wouldn't notice until i read what You wrote here. And i agree too much clicking is stupid. The problem is that until they change how battles are now there's not much point in giving more complicated orders. At least if wer're talking about SP. In MP it might be more needed.

I just find it annoying and completely absurd that they are making changing that make the game objectively worse. And just cause the meta is slow rn doesn't mean it always will be, all it takes is one patch to change the meta.

Havent even had this game installed in months but if they are doing this all in the name of console accessibility you have every right to be angry

Console takes the soul out of PC games, always has always will. That is why this game is so basic and shallow.

what are we voting for?
i think it's a temporary "fix" until they make a better a new PC focused command menu

I been sitting out this week so I just kinda took their word that they added the old option back. That's really sucky as the hold fire and face enemy were my main gripe with the radial.

I do, I want to kill 5X-10X time more enemies with zero losses, I use every trick in the book, but it already was really lame and cumbersome to do the commands all the time, and the radial made if worse and caused some problems with not knowing if troops were on hold fire or not.

I want the "place before battle" and I want them to keep their arrangement (inf infront of archers exc) when I move them to another location, not run all hog wild and have to ordered again....

Yeah that's the part that gets me too, that they spent work on this garbage instead of the numerous that are needed and wanted and it makes the game worse.

I'll post this in every thread on this subject: imagine if Kenshi devs ruined their games in order to release in consoles.

yes and no. they gave you the option to change how it looks so it appears as though it is the old UI but it functions the same as the new one in every way

I noticed this immediately

Yep, they spent time on this instead of an actual diplomacy system.

One can only imagine how they are working on this game.

-snip-

Apparently my joke was racist whatsoever without further explanation what was racist about it

Whatever mod did it, next time an explanation would be nice. There was neither Racism nor an Insult in the Joke.
It is no joke that there is no immersion in this game, or any real reason behind changes that no one likes.

Guys, I understand and I agree with your frustration, but seriously the way you complain about it is not the best.

1) UI dev are, wait for it, working on UI. Not diplomacy, not pathing, not game mechanics. So complaining that "they changed this UI stuff INSTEAD OF working on that completely unrelated stuff" is pointless, because it's not the same guys nor the same skillset.

2) Antagonizing dev is not going to bring them to your view. I'm also a dev, I'm always trying to give the best to my users and I welcome feedback and suggestions, but if I got this kind of mockery I certainly wouldn't make any special effort. We already have little communication from TW, let's not drive away the few who still interact with us, okay ?

Describing the problem in the OP is great. But the tone, and many of the answers, are really not helping. And yes I know, it's been a long time and we all are frustrated. Doesn't prevent being civil, we can criticize and be mature at the same time.

I completely agree with the OP the face enemy especially get on my nerves as i have to press 4 buttons for a single command, deez nuts!!!

And they still do pay those guys, money that goes in there is money not spent on WAY more important things.
And the priorities are completely off even in the UI department.

This is not something that goes on since the start of EA, the frustration just grows and grows with every day they ignore every kind of suggestion and feedback on here. The few who interact with us are held up so high by the community that they should be a sign for every other dev on there WHY it is good to interact with the playerbase. Not the opposite, no one here dislikes mexxico, everyone loves him. He is the Hero we need.

I mean what do you expect? We paid money for this, we were told that they would talk to us. We were told that we can help to improve this game.
This is the very defintion of being scammed. We paid for a product with promises, and what we got is whatever they throw at us. Not only do they not listen to what the community wants, they do the exact opposite. Its like they are taunting us.
If i look at other Game Devs who behave like this, i can only say that TW has it pretty easy so far. The Community is behaving extremely well. But not that hard considering they drove off 90% of their playerbase already.

It's true, that's why I mentioned other UI-ish features that I WANT that haven't shown up. The pre-battle placement was mentioned as being worked on months ago with no update. I don't know if the same Devs would work on this or not, but I'm not blaming them anyways. I just want the old UI back. I would love for UI to work on missing or new UI features instead of tinkering with stuff that already works but I'm sure it's the Boss that wanted the radial UI so TOO BAD FOR US.
Antagonizing dev is not going to bring them to your view
I don't think that's what's going on here and I was under the impression they shared our view (in previous thread) and that we would receive to option for original UI, this didn't happen and it's very disturbing.

I hear what your saying but ive also seen this same dynamic happen time and time again -that being Developers who start going in a new/different READ:WORSE direction such as console accessibility and the original fanbase cries foul. They have every right to cry foul and try to make themselves heard especially as this is still Early Access and feel they still have a chance and hope that their voice gets heard at the top level office and the priorities of the games finite resource return to things the original loyal fanbase has always sought out.

There is also generally a group of people (myself often included) who try and soften the approach to the Devs for different reasons but one of them is fear of driving them away. I find this a woeful approach -the Devs are all big boys/girls and should be able and moreso willing to hear an outcry to return to the original vision of the game and adjust accordingly. Many of my favorite franchises have also turned towards "accessibility" and the game ALWAYS suffers a a byproduct to the PC faithful
