Maybe you could try shutting down other applications/programmes you've got on? Too many of those might hamper performance, so if you've got MSN or something like it activated you might want to shut them down.

I've heard people complain about fraps being slow.
You should make sure to close all running programs (except M&B and fraps obviously).
Also try recording a small battle with a few men and compare to larger battles.
If it's simply a question of how good the performance is, then there's probably not much else to do
but turn down graphics and battle size while recording.
But also check the recording options (if any) in fraps and see if performance can be improved (like turning down screen size, sound quality etc...)

We had a lot of snow days so I get out on the 26th of June I think.
I wish I was on summer break.
