If your family member/friend is BNP politician, how do you cope?

If they're not just a BNP supporter, but actually one of those politicians who gets mouthed off whenever they go, how do you cope? Would you let anyone know you're associated in any form or shape with this person? Disown this person? Keep it a secret?  Join BNP yourself?
