If this EA is supposed to involve the Community, why doesn't TW poll us or ask what we want/expect?

Should TW poll/question the community regularly about interest and expectations?

TW's EA statement on the store page said: "Early access is something that we are very familiar with: our first title, Mount & Blade, helped to pioneer this method of release back in 2005. By working alongside our community we were able to deliver a unique gaming experience that players still enjoy to this day. These past experiences have taught us that it is vital to bring players in to help us iron out any issues and refine the game by utilizing feedback to bring it to the level that both our community and we expect."

However, and curiously, we don't see any questions or polling being asked of the community from TW. Questions like:

"What features were you really hoping for in Bannerlord?"

"Of these Warband mods.....which did you enjoy the most?"

"Do you enjoy system X, if not, how could it better?"

"What currently negatively impacts your experience in game?"

I don't know, this isn't my job, but the more I think about it, and the further Bannerlord gets from my expectations, the more I question if the community's opinion means anything at all.

And yes, I know there is a "Feedback and Suggestions" section in the forum, but who knows if they even read it. And most importantly, that's coming from the users. If TW actually cares about our interest and expectations (as stated in their EA statement), why don't they ever ask the community on the forums or on steam what those interest and expectations are?

They already know what we want, they had plenty of time to understand that, they are just ignoring that knowledge apparently...

That's not quite right. I guarantee that Taleworlds is aware of the feedback and other suggestions and recommendations that we, the fans, can eventually provide to them. The latest patch is a good example of this.

On the other hand, unfortunately, there is some feedback that is difficult for them to digest, which is directly against the design guidelines. A clear example is the system of predefined classes for the MP section. They have been made aware by active and passive, through polls, discussion threads, etc... that the Community does NOT want that. I don't know how the matter will end, hopefully with a system that satisfies both parties.

If they do not talk about certain things it is either because they have not developed it or because it clashes with their design vision and therefore they must discuss it internally. It's the pace that can make us fans go crazy. For example, it has taken sweat and tears to get Taleworlds to step up and fix the mess of the MP combat system; it has taken almost a year. There are still things to fix, but we're on the right track.

Let them continue with the fck*** game, stop this posts PLEASE

Are you okay? Why are you so triggered? Apparently 81% of the respondents here think TW should actively poll and question the community's interest and expectations. You know, to see what we are interested it and expect, since you know their EA statement said it was fundamental to the game's development.

Don't be a simp. This is a reasonable question, and request - OBVIOUSLY.

They did far back in the beta. Not sure why they stopped. I can only guess they are overworked with the current load.

They have been made aware by active and passive, through polls, discussion threads, etc... that the Community does NOT want that.
But then again, the community is far bigger than the few hundred people actively posting and engaging in polls, not mentioning the fact that most of those polls are flawed since they are made by, well, regular people. TW has greater capabilities of reaching out to the community, they just don't use them, for whatever reason.

Sorry no idea about MP, the only thing I can say is that MP was played much more then SP before release, tested more and yet, not really up to speed.

In SP i talk about obvious stuff like the log for example, do they need a survey? Just look at POP, Perisno and Floris and you already know what people wants on top of the base game no?

This game seems like a movie shot by the Director of Photography alone.

I suspect the people who vote no are just simps/white knights for TW, and will happily accept a sub-par product that does not meet the communities expectations. But that is certainly my bias consideration, and probably not accurate across the board.

However, I'm trying to consider why they would reject the idea that TW should regularly ask specific questions to the community for feedback in accordance with their EA statement - and I really can't think of one.

And you are right; the Community extends beyond the walls of this forum. However, when Taleworlds went to ask about the status of the MP to reddit (a not insignificant platform - not to mention the subsequent threads concerning the MP), the conclusions were if not the same as here; very similar.

A capable developing company not always produce what people want but also what people don't know they actually want. You know the people in this forum doesn't represent majority of player base.

Sincerely, for some very important issues that are viable to develop as a majority in the community want, go ahead with the votes. The problem arises when everything or almost everything is taken to a vote, the first thing I see is the possibility of forcing TW to make decisions based on votes that may not be the best for the development of the game itself, in terms of time or directly that possible, the second thing is that here everyone has a way of enjoying the game and perfectly a badly carried out vote can ruin everything.

voting? yes, why not, but with caution and being as realistic as possible.

On the other hand, TW should know very well what their community wants, because since the days of Mount and Blade they have been asking for the same things, let's give them a little confidence

That's great, but then again, the thread only got a few hundred upvotes and I believe a lot of people who sit here also go on reddit, me included, so that's still not the whole community.

A moderator told me it is because Callum is too busy to answer questions on the forum. Which confused me as a Community Managers main role is to communicate with the community.

I understand your position, but then how do you get to 100% of the Community if it only manifests itself in 60% (official + unofficial forum, reddit, steam...)? I ask you

I've been "harassing" Callum for over two years trying to get crumbs out of information  .
It's company policy to " don't provide information in case you can't keep your promises"...

Total aside to bannerlord, but I think the best way for companies to do that is to put survey tools in their games. I thought one of the coolest things League of legends did was starting to poll people in their game client. This way the data you are getting back is from people who are actually playing the game. Problem with polls on a forum is you have people voting who don't even play. I do not expect this of bannerlord.

Telemetry tools, usually.
Well, it's a tool for them, no doubt. But the results of the telemetry become What did the player do? not What does the player want?

During the beta period, Taleworlds sent us forms with questions about the game via e-mail. Get this back? why not; it's another story if they are interested in it.

I think that is a great idea. That's the essence of this post, the polling should come from TW rather than the users.

This would be ideal, both for them and for us. I think there's been some talk of this around here.

For a large-scale response, no doubt.
