Ideas how to make Pendor harder

Other thing i like is using a small mod called Brainy bots... Damn that makes them way harder in direct fights as trash mobs are litterly changed to trash cause high skilled knights lerned to block and they tend to just chew trough them way more instead of getting clobberd

I did. Siege offense is actually easier with crossbowmen as they bend over upon reloading and the defenders often miss them upon doing so.

With "no archers" I actually meant not using any ranged units at all.
And I see you like the Ebony Gauntles guys a lot.

I think they're heretics. Noldors are sacred. Never touch them!

Female-only run. [...]
My next goal is to play the game as a lonely wolf. No troops or companions at all. Perhaps not impossible but gonna be a grindfest at some point.

I already did a female only run. Pretty good challenge and pretty faces everywhere.
But no troops at all?

Brainy bots

Not so sure about mixing Pendor with other mods.
A huge plus of Pendor is that it NEVER crashed on me once nor did a save ever get corrupted.

I remember trying brainy bots once, almost had a mental breakdown as every single enemy unit would block pretty much all of my swings and fighting two enemies at once is almost impossible, but maybe that's because I'm ****e at the game  :dead:

Neither did mine, i think it was Gorvax that brought me to it a long time ago, i use it pretty much all the time now, and it never crashed on me even once, you still need to fiddle a bit with the setting ingame cause Pendor uses a higher range of Profincies ^^

Yeah, I brought up @doghotel's Brainy Bots mod a few times in the past for people who would like to have an extra layer of challenge. Discovering back in the days (I saw it years ago on YouTube) that it's such an easily installable and highly compatible submod really sold itself for me beside of what it promised.

But I doubt that @Plasquar is looking for this kind of challenge, hence I didn't bring it up. Nor the "0 everything" start, which I liked a lot btw when I did such a playthrough once in PoP (kudos to @Madame de Pompadour for that )

I am trying this at the moment:

- No Elixirs
- No Tournaments/Arenas
- No Unique Spawn Kitting
- On foot, roleplaying as a wannabe Knight of the Ebony Gauntlet (and medic)
- Join Sarleon since they will be always at war with another faction
- Grind with 8 companions and a few elite units
- Decline Marshall position, try to get awarded fiefs by convincing King/Lords
- Try to become Grandmaster of the Order of the Ebony Gauntlet (no idea yet how will i beat the Noldor patrols )
- Have fun in general

I just tested it.
You know those quests where you have to train peasants against bandits?
I cant teach them peasants anymore

And Donavan keeps pitching me 4v1 bouts.

Is there a reason why you don't have boots ?

If you fight on foot exclusively, then you don't need any footwear. Like at all. But it looks silly/awful when you don't wear boots that fit your body armor.

Has anyone challenged themselves with a non-combat character? As in trade-leadership-persuasion-centric? Or would that be too... boring?

Definitely boring. It happens in almost all of my PoP playthroughs at the beginning, as I like to optimize starting stats with achievements, books, max possible amount of skill points and Elixirs of Arkon in mind. So I start with rather low attributes, like 11-11-12-8 or so and only ever put further points into INT. And leave the rest to Elixirs later on. Which doesn't leave me much choice beside being a cheerleader for my army at the beginning :???:

Try moving on the map at full zoom in, only zoom out as your spotting skill increases (or the parties).  The only time you can ever zoom all the way to view the map, is when you have a party spotting skill of 10.  It's very hard unless you have a good knowledge of the Pendor map from previous plays and avoiding scary enemies requires 100% concentration  :ohdear:

Did you get the idea from Perisno's fog of war feature?

I have an idea how to make end game harder. Which is honestly something that pendor need most.

So what would happen if... someone have stolen secrets of player's CKO? Let's say, enemy lord took prisoner a party of CKO knights. He tortured them and one knight eventually told about his training and source of equipment.

As a result, lords instead of creating chapters of random knighthood orders would be able to establish chapters of CKO. Obviously this shouldn't happen when CKO is still weak.

I was thinking about some mechanic whereby at a certain point, say if the player gets to a certain "power level", all remaining kingdoms make peace and declare war on the player.

"power level" can be calculated with some formula taking into account player level, day number, wealth, number of fiefs owned, level of CKO, level of companions, number of qualis gems used/held, noldor relations etc. + some random factor.

Also, there might be some clear victory condition that does not force the player to capture all castles/towns and kill all invading armies etc.

I don't know about others, but POP is a wonderful mod that I play until I reach a certain power level with my kingdom and am at the point where I am steam rolling the map and just autocalcing all battles, after which I just quit and start over.

You know I've never actually clicked that option   I'll have to try it.
