I think the famous lag on strategy map is caused by great amount of factions.

What should be done? Decrease it! I know, that nobody wants his country to be unplayable, but... for example I'm great fan of historical accuracy in terms of Byzantine. But also, I don't need all Empires: of Trebizond, Epir, also Armenia etc.

First step has already been done. Papacy is independent faction, Crown of Navarre has been kiced out.

Think, what faction can we kick out or change to independent.

Pity module is set in 1257, it should be better, if it was before IV crusade, or after reconquering Latin Empire.

What do you think?

Well as of pre 10 I hardly notice the lag anymore.
Even as it were in pre 9 and earlier I don't think reducing the lag is worth dropping legitimate factions.

It's been stated several times, the number of factions will not be reduced significantly. Get over i.

I remember that the lag issues on map were from the triggers on the sea battles.

When I played the mod Roots of Yggdrassil, the party's icons had some triggers to change their icons when they pass over the water.

I haven't played this mod already, but if the lag is a stutter every 1 second or 2, there is a 80% of probabilty that the lag comes from those triggers, and the solution is either, or optimize the script, or erase it, the sea battles will be at water zones, but you will not see the party's with the ship icon (And that isn't bad at all, personally, I prefer good performance than ship icons on map)

I really think that this cause the lag, because, imagine the number of party's going into the map, and checking all every X seconds if they are in the water terrain is a tremendous work from the CPU

Well, it looks like you want a mod focused on the Byzantine Empire, this mod is not.  Your wish is presented as a valid suggestion, frankly, I find it annoying.

Navarra was removed because: a) it was a stagnant faction and offered nothing in terms of game play (noone would attack it, and it wouldn't attack anyone) b) it was unfair to have such a small faction and refuse to add other factions of much greater importance to the period c) removing it would help with performance.

That said, I believe the performance in pre10 is acceptable, if I find further ways to increase performance it will be done, if not, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

I mean no offense to any Basques, I look at factions in terms of numbers, in a neutral fashion.  I will not reinstate the Navarra faction mainly because of reason 'b'.

In addition, don't give me pointers on how to improve performance in my mod.  I know where the bottlenecks are and don't need your help, kthx.

OK, no offense, don't take me wrong, it was only a suggestion. I really appreciate your and other team members work. In fact, lag in pre10 is smaller than before, still visible, but it doesn't bother in playing.
