Could someone give me ideas about some factions to put into my mod(s)?

Avoid historical/very used ideas, but keep it realistic.

Mention possible names, if you can.
 
It's kind of hard to make a faction with distinct troops the way Native has its troops equipped. You'd have to rebalance them, too, I'd think. Just imagine taking out all shields, two-handed weapons, and good one-handed weapons from archers - as well as metal armors. If that is a starting point, then you could work from there. Also, remove bows from Khergits who aren't Horse Archer types. Also, assume better armor and shields for Rhodok Sergeants. Using these assumptions then ...

How about a mixed-unit faction? One with a little bit of everything in terms of troop types, but no real specialty. For example, top tier units could be:

* Skirmisher: (not a Veagir Skirmisher) Short Bow, decent 2-handed weapon, high Athletics, non-metallic armor. Better hand-to hand skills than current ranged units.
* Heavy Horseman: rides Hunters, maybe spears, high Riding skill, armored lighter than Vaegir or Swadian Knights, good two-handed weapons.
* Light Horseman: rides Coursers, no spears, sword & shield, high Riding skill, armored similar to Nord Veterans (Byrne or something).
* Solider: Armored lighter than Rhodok Sergeants, but slightly better Athletics. Mix of good two-handed or one-handed weapons. No polearms.
* Pikeman: The standard long polearm type.

HardCode: Thanks for the suggestion, I plan on replacing Rhodoks anyway, so they wouldn't be a problem. However, should I just nerf ranged units? Perhaps it would be better to give them something in return for less melee ability and toughness.
 
more accuracy, or you could make it so its very easy to get top knotch ranged units, kind of like how they mass recruited longbowmen. just make it so they upgrade way faster.

Robin Hood-ites?
English Longbowmen?
Outlaws?

Don't know if this is what you're looking for, but oh well. Kind of Forest Bandits that don't really want your money- they want revenge! Peasants that have turned villain because of too many attacks and are out for any kind of nobleman's blood. Good at archery, tracking, and athletics. Dwell in the forest but will venture out if they spot a noble.
 
hm...maybe you could call a faction......or several factions actually....things like brotherhood of fire,earth,air,water.

each could have differnet kind of units...

e.g fire have good infantry and ok cavalry but limited range units...and air have very good range and light cavalry, that kinda thing...

could implement native items but change colour...things like that? could probably take a bit of work to get it balanced but should be fun when its done.

not in my caladria, it worked in peasants, but it wont fir beside the other factions
 
For originality you could do an African faction, mayby Mali empire?
However, not many native models/textures would fit them.
But it would definitely be cool. PM if interested in names/pics, I have some at home.

an african faciton would be cool, and if the models were black it'd be awesome! in fact maybe the rhodoks are actually african's! the devs are just waiting til the next version to spring it on us

Yeah, I've had that thought too. Actually, try to put the map of Calradia over a map of europe, and you'll see that the Rhodok empire happen to be situated in North Africa... :wink:

For this to work as a faction, yes, the human models would have to be darker skinned, and clothing woulod have to be modelled. Some armours and weapons would be ok to use I guess, but a lot would have to be done from scratch.

African might be nice, yes, but maybe a chinese or something'd be fun too? :shrug:

Or well... ehh.. hm. Maybe I can come up with more ideas for you later.

That's probably the best idea so far. Howerver, I would need a great number of new items...

peasants?....nope u lost me.... anyway i was thinking along the general idea of not having many(if any atall) of the original factions.
