Well the thing is, I have a ATI Raedeon right now, and I'm sick of the rgl problems and since nobody answers in the technical help thread there is no solutions I guess but to buy a geforce.

Now then, I think the Geforce 9600Gt is the equivalent of what I have now and it's not that expensive. But I hear it needs a power supply of 400W, but my pc has one of 3000 Watt, so I wonder if this will be a problem?

Here are the full specs of my pc: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01657244&lc=en&dlc=de&cc=at&product=3890769&lang=de

Also, how can I tell if I have Vista or Vista 64 something?

I'm a total noob with computers

I'd hope you mean 300w. Otherwise, have you considered moving into the power generation market?

You will need to upgrade the PSU. To be honest, 300w is below what I'd consider necessary even for a basic machine these days. Shouldn't cost too much for a 400w PSU, and they're pretty easy to replace.

Right click on "Computer" and select properties. It should give you the Vista version and the OS (32 bit or 64 bit) next to "system type".

thx, yeah I ment 300, that was a silly typo.

I have the money, the problem is justifying spending money on my pc to my girlfriend

EDIt, hm I've found a power suply unit that isn't expensive, does annyone have any expirience with it?

http://www.pc-silent.be/nl/Voeding.4/500_Watt_klasse.93/

(site is in dutch tough) It's the first one, the Seasonic SS-500ET, 500Watts, active PFC According to the description, it's an extremely quiet and reliable PSU

*Sigh*. What is your current card?

Don't get a current-gen nVidia card. They aren't up to snuff. An old 9600 will serve your purposes fine if you absolutely must have an nVidia card.

Also, the RGL problems are not exclusive to ATi cards, nor do ATi cards always have this problem (mine works just fine, thanks). It's a very generic error as far as these things go, even being mod-specific.

get an antec tripower psu at 450 watts, try to overclock your current card, and when it gives out, be surprised and you'll be able to get a card that works a lot better.

You should have a 64 bit os with your proc.
