I would like to purchase some land for a productive enterprise

When I play warband it is usually a VERY slow start. I never start as a noble flying my own banner, and usually I am hundreds of days into the campaign before I join a faction or start my own. One of things I like to do during this slow progression? Earn money as a mercenary attacking caravans, raiders, enemy lords and selling their stuff for the 5 finger discount. There are faster ways to make money, but I prefer to slaughter others for it. And how do I spend this hard earned money? I BUY MORE MONEY! Specifically I buy things which give me a passive income. In native that is to purchase land and start a dyeworks or some such, some mods have other versions of passive income but the important thing is its a one time purchase, and now I have money FOREVER and I don't have to DO anything for it. It just appears in my wallet every payday.

What type of features would you guys like to see in Bannerlord as far as income. We know you can be a merchant/trader, you can send companions on caravans to make money for your clan. But do you think productive enterprises or other methods of investible passive income will return? Can I spend lifetimes building up a huge financial empire before I join a faction so that I can crush them all under the sheer weight of my wallet?

AI Lords behave much as you do. I wouldn't expect you to be able to crush them with the sheer weight of your wallet. Of course, most profitable enterprise would be a stable of hookers.

Very interested in how enterprises will work in the game. Hope we can get a somewhat stable passive income going again.

AI lords follow the same rules as you maybe, but I doubt they behave the same. I would like a stable of hookers in every city on the map sending me money on a weekly basis.

Maybe with reworked economy there will be shifts in production that will require you to react sometimes, but I think rent seeking will remain a very effective way of earning money in the long-term.

I wanna see armies of dismounted cavalry because I destroyed their ability to accumulate horses. I want to be able to perpetually lock down a faction if they get fiefs raided and defeated hard enough. Like they can never make a proper comeback unless you give them peace for a long time. Supposedly Bannerlord will treat the AI lords more harshly/equally to the player, but we'll see how much they can be wrecked or if they still get magically appearing armies.

well that needs a lot of multitasking since you have to also keep on track with enemy movement on the maps and also the enemy economical movement thats bigger than the first , couse even your allied lords are considered there as enemys since they dont want to help you with your shop since you are at the same function .So i guess you have to choose where to focus more .

Enterprises will be in the game and the economy part of it is going to be overhauled with the possibility of shutting down income revenue for rival lords as well as other options https://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/59

Nice I had forgotten about this blog. So I can go around Calradia buying up productive enterprises, but I need to be sure to choose to produce things that won't necessarily draw the most competition, or that will require a large amount of investment to compete with. It is an interesting idea. If there is a family of lords I really hate or just want to mess with I can track down all their income sources and buy up all the raw resources for their enterprises every week (or whenever it respawns) and either deliver them them to my shop in another town that produces the same thing, or just send it across the map on a caravan for sale at a higher price elsewhere.

I wonder if other lords will notice that it is you buying up all the raw goods making their productive enterprise completely worthless, or worse yet very costly. Surely they will notice that they are losing money. If they start losing money will they eventually shut down the enterprise? Because if they do it would be hilarious if you had stockpiled all the raw good, bought up the same plot that they just sold an made the exact same enterprise. I think it would be great if the AI noticed this kind of activity and called you out on it.

+1

Unlikely as it is, these kinds of connections are the missing building blocks to greater immersion.

We'll have to see how they implemented it and it is sure to have a lot of bugs, but it opens up a lot of possibilities. You can effectively bankrupt lords and control the end of conflicts, turn the tide of one, start them, etc. I look forward to be have a monopoly on horses and force Vlandians to fight on foot against my band of Khuzaits

Jay you’re full of good ideas

ctrl + x will be my main form of income for the first play through if I’m being honest as I’ll need to learn everything and can’t learn much with no troops or gear just raiding and killing every few minutes to get food
