gender aside
By continually saying it is fictional will not change the whole concept of the game... It is based on history, with like I said a fictional side stories that taleworlds have put into the game. (The main story lines they talk about)

So asbot6 quit commenting about it being fictional every post and get some points in about the ideals as oppose to just looking at the game.
I for one have no problem with women being introduced. But just shouting sexism all the time is so annoying.

Relatively recent history. Not even in the entire recorded history.  That's why feminists often picked examples from before the medieval or even Roman age to prove their point.

Playing a female () in WFaS would be cool, but I feel like there should be a different storyline based on it, because it would be really fake if everything happened to you as if you were playing a male. Taking into account how extraordinary it was back then and how all actions would really have to be changed, such a storyline would take up a lot of time and IMO it's better to not have the option at all than to have a half-arsed implement.

I would have the same opinion about male characters if it were the other way around

Well, historical fiction is fiction.  Can't say it's perfectly historically accurate, cause I'm pretty sure the PC never existed.  Given that it's fiction, anything's allowed.

If you wanna play as a female in SP, here's a brutal hack to get it in.  I have NO idea if this'll screw up plot later on, or anything.  The datafiles for this game are kinda ugly to hack through with notepad.

Open
mount & blade with fire and sword\Modules\Ogniem i Mieczem\menus.txt

EDIT:  Make a backup of the file first, just in case

I perfectly understand the logic behind why they decided that one cannot play as a woman.  However, they should have kept it as an option, taking it out was definitely one mistake, that already seems to have enraged some players...

couldn´t agree more! but if you´re insisting, asbot6 list me five "open world RPGs" trying to depict a historical period before 1950 with the option to play as female??

That is besides the point. Just because other games don't have it, doesn't mean this game shouldn't.

Just because everyone is discriminating, doesn't mean it's okay

There.

And that will work? Nice, I think I'll test it with the trial version.

By the way...

I believe that the spirit of your post has already been addressed:

What exactly is your point anyway? This is an argument about ideals, not actualities. I think everyone here accepts that in the game With Fire and Sword, you can not play as a woman; this argument instead is about ideals, i.e. people feel you ought be able to play as a woman.

Sure, considering the actuality of the game, if one wishes to play it, one would have to "[...] learn to 'role play' as a man", but why should one have to?

I really don't see the point in not allowing the player to be a woman. After all, the player is a hero (or heroine) and therefore an exceptional character. It's not like they should alter the fact that nearly all military leaders were men; but history has shown us that, in exceptional circumstances, women have risen to positions of leadership or military heroism even in male-dominated societies (Boadicea, Zenobia, Joan of Arc, Molly Pitcher, Agustina of Aragon...)

Yes. And then you'd have a really really fake story, even for a fictional game.

Not introduced, it was built in the Warband engine, the option was removed - and for as many people have explained, for no good reason.
Plus you should always think, "does this make me sound like a ****?" before saying "just shouting sexism all the time"...

Yeah, but some is better than none.

Yes but I doubt TW would want to give out some garbage/make shift story. Then ending up have more complaints about how much better the male story is compared to the female.

You're missing a point. It would still be a half-arsed implement, in my opinion degrading the game.
